The better spinner?
Yeah Perth is my favourite dustbowlHe and Brad Hogg are the most underrated spinners of modern era. Saqlain if he played in a country with better facilities, was dead set to go past Kumble. Hogg was born in wrong era and never had luxury of bowling on dust bowls like Warne, or against crap teams of spin like MacGill.
Hogg never had the opportunities in SL or Pakistan or against teams like ENG, NZ, SAF or WI. Much better spinner than MacGill and actually knew how to bowl to good players of spin.Yeah Perth is my favorite dustbowl
But Herath was much worse overseas imo. And Herath effectively played 15 years to Mushtaq's 10. Yeah, Herath outshines Saqlain on longevity, but Saqlain was a better quality bowler imo.Longevity, Saqlain unravelled too quickly
Hogg averages 50+ against the West Indies....Hogg never had the opportunities in SL or Pakistan or against teams like ENG, NZ, SAF or WI. Much better spinner than MacGill and actually knew how to bowl to good players of spin.
Pretty sure he's including ODI's too, like he always does.Hogg averages 50+ against the West Indies....
Way better.Saqlain was better overseas
Never had a long run like in ODIs. So I won't look in to his stats much. We have seen how good he can be via the ODIs, and that was when batsmen decided to attack him. MacGill was a fish out of water when batsmen started to come at him.Hogg averages 50+ against the West Indies....
was he really? both were bad in SENA but I think Herath achieved more, had a match-winning performance in Durban in 2011, helped save a game in Lords in 2014 to save a game and so forth, he was bad away from home but not much difference between the two in SENA, the difference lies in Peak Saqlain destroying India in India and Herath being borderline unplayable at home, and as good as Saqlain's feat in India was, I prefer Herath's home dominance. But Herath was much worse overseas imo. The main reason Saqlain didn't have 'longeity' was because of a few bad games and Pakistani selection policy.Longevity, Saqlain unravelled too quickly
Saqlain was better overseas. The examples you pick for Herath are pretty much it from a much larger sample. Saqlain won a game in Eng and NZ, had that sixfer against Aus. He was a consistent threat. And then a near ATG series in India where he was the first spinner who troubled peak Tendulkar.was he really? both were bad in SENA but I think Herath achieved more, had a match-winning performance in Durban in 2011, helped save a game in Lords in 2014 to save a game and so forth, he was bad away from home but not much difference between the two in SENA, the difference lies in Peak Saqlain destroying India in India and Herath being borderline unplayable at home, and as good as Saqlain's feat in India was, I prefer Herath's home dominance.
