Colts Hammer Surrey

The colts today Hammered surrey in a match that lasted just 42 overs, but amazingly, was split exactly evenly between the 2 sides.

After winning the Toss surrey hoped to use the pitch first before it deteriorated. the only thing that deteriorated n the day however was the Surrey batting lineup:lol:. After Brown was removed 1st ball by Shaw and Mane removed by Beasley in the 2nd over a brieft fightback was made from the surrey batsmen with wilkes making 23(19) and blewett making a solid 31(37) but apart form that the surrey batting showed no resistance, with beasley (4/28) and Klusener, back from Injury (3/22) completing the crushing of the surrey batting lineup, all out for 101

Tudor, Giddins and Hollioke took one colts wicket each but they were never going to stop us from getting the total, Shewag topscored with 30(39) well supported by Singh (22), Anderson (15*) and Katich (19*) saw the colts to a vital win in division 2

Kent Make Light Work Of WA

Jamie Cox blasted a match winning 129* to guide Kent to a large total of 263/2.

Cox was given great support by the rookie B Allen who himself hit a fine 68 before becoming a vitmin of Z Keegan and both Gibbs and Flower hit quick-fire 20's to push the score up.

In reply WA were never in the hunt as wickets fell regularly, only D Martyn's 54 and M Goodwin's 45* were any threat to the Kent side who all but Marsg got among the wickets - all bowled very tight line and lenghts.

Kent - 263/2 (J Cox 129*, B Allen 68)

WA - 180/6 (D Martyn 54, M Goodwin 45*; M Saggers 2/39 [10], C Liptrot 1/21 [9], S Hutton 1/31 [10], T Murtagh 1/35 [9], M McCague 1/43 [10])

Kent won by 83 runs
Man of the match is J Cox

Warwickshire Vs. Worcestershire

Warwickshire crashed to a frustrating 2 wicket defeat to Worcestershire, just two weeks after beating Karnataka.

Warwickshire batted first and made 258/4, with Howarth making a superb unbeaten 79. Masroor and Ali also enjoyed 50s. It wasn't enough though as Worcestershire made the score with 3 overs left. Wickets fell at regular intervals. Kaneria picked up five, but conseeded 62 off 9 overs. With the score at 234/8 the game was evenly poised only for dip**** Alexander to come in and smash 30 off 17, to get Worcestershire home.

The defeat mains any hopes Warwickshire had of promotion are now gone. Its all about making sure we stay up in division 3 now!

Province hosted Karnataka and were confident about upsetting the Div 3 heavy weights and getting their one day final hopes back on tracks.
Karnataka were quick to destroy the demons which plagued them last game and they made light work of the Province batting line up. Khan, Ali, Jones and Gayle were the pick of the Karnataka bowling all claiming 2 wickets. The only bright notes in the Province innings was Astles return to form scoring 34 and McKenzie continuing his consitency top scoring with 36. However 118 was never going to be enough, no matter how well they bowled.

Karnatak made light work reaching the target before the 20 over mark for the loss of 3 wickets, with all batsman playing well.

"Look it was very dissapointing, we were hoping at the start to pinch one of these games off Karnataka but it wasn't to be. WE may now even put players on notice for the end of season with contracts not being renewed similar to NSW. However there are still 4 games to go, and we're going to play hard in them, to try and get a little more pride back"

It was a battle between the bottom two sides in first division with Queensland taking on Mumbai.

Mumbai batted first and got to 217/3 with Francis 54 and Banes 76* getting runs. Flintoff, Trott and Wood kept the runs down well.

In reply Qld got the runs losig 7 wickets and with 7 overs to spare. Hayden got 74 and Love 53 (finally). Troughton and Francis took 2 wickets each.

Both of Qld's wins have been against Mumbai and we need more to stay up. Looks like a fight with WA for the playoff spot.

ACT versus Guyana

ACT took on Guyana at Canberra's Manuka Oval in round 6 of the one day competition. ACT were missing captain and opening batsman Michael Dawn for this clash so Cade Brown took over the captaincy role.
He got off to a good start winning the toss and as usual at Manuka batting first. David Jeffrey and the out of form Ben Southam opened the innings in Dawn's absence. Jeffrey was the first man to fall, he was out for 4 with the score on 13. Star batsman Sean Maxwell was next and played a solid if not scratchy innings. Ater being dropped on 4 and a massive LBW appeal turned down when he was on 17 he started to play some cracking shots. But he was caught on 37.
Wicketkeeper batsman David Dawson top scored in the innings with 51 (55). He was well supported by Brad Hogg down the order, he made 37* and took his season average to 90 in the porcess. ACT all out for 195 in 46 overs. Easily the comets worst batting display of the season.
D Hettiarachchi took 5/34 for the visitors.

Guyana should have been confident chasing just 196 for victory, after making a season hight 330 the first time these 2 sides met.
Things didnt start well for them being 3-10 and then 5-27. Saravanan (61) and Sarwan (51) played good innings to get them back in the drivers seat. they were 5-127 before Sarwan fell. the rest of the innings crumbled into a heap really. Guyana all out for 134. Matt Ramage as usual the best of the Comets bowlers, taking 5-19 this week. Kent French also took a couple.

The Comets ran out winners by 61 runs in the end. a few batting problems for the side today though.

Manager Fitzsimmons had this to say; "a great bowling and fielding performance today, the boys did really well to defend that total." "I think the batting line up really does lack direction without Michael (dawn) there." "A few guys need to have a look at their own performances with the trading period fast approaching." "I dont want to cut any of these 16 guys, but its inevitable that some will go.

South Australia hosted Lancashire in a clash that the Redbacks were wary of...
Although their OD performances have been close to perfect SA manager Brendon Goff was wary of the Redbacks record against Lancashire in the shorter version of the game, in which Lancs had a 3-1 count over the Aussies in recent times...

The day started well for the redbacks with a beuatiful day greeting all, a packed house and the pitch looking like a highway and when Lehmann won the toss, SA had no hesitation in batting 1st...

Jenkins and Williams strode to the centre and Jenkins found the going easy early, scoring at a run a ball, but Williams who has looked a bit out of sorts of late struggled and was dismissed for 4, SA 1-25...
Lehmann joined Jenkins and the 2 showed their class as they pushed the score along to 76 before Jenkins was dismissed for 52 from only 44 deliveries.. Stratton copped an unplayable delivery from Mendis and was gone for 0, SA all of a sudden in a bit of trouble at 3-85...
From there the fireworks began, Lehmann along with French bludgened the Lancashire attack, scoring better then a run a ball, they passed 100, then 200, then 250 before the innings closed at 3-306. Lehmann the star with 133*(138), but he was well supported from rookie Kane French 98*(100), who finally showed some of the promise which he showed in the Youth leagues over the past few seasons.....
SA had made use of the brilliant conditions and with such a big score Lancashire were going to have a tough time of it against a very strong SA attack...

The Lancashire openers strode to the crease with a eager glint in their eye, and they started like a house on fire with Schiller belting the leather all over the park, racing to 42(36) before falling to Dennett, Lancs 1-55..
Baumgarner and Ramprakash added 21 before Baumgarner departed for 9, 2-76...
Ramprakash and Madanagopal then gave the away fans a light of hope with a big patnership. They took it steady and built the score to 198 before Madanagopal fell for an even 50...
Lancs needed 99 off the last 10 overs and with plenty of batting remaining they were a chance...
Beasley came out firing but Ramprakash had been slowed down and struggled to get out of the rut, and by the time he was dismissed for 92 Lancs chances had vanished with only 1 over remaining... Lancs eventually finished 4-250, with Beasley 39*(35) showing some class that may see him push for a promotion up the order...
For SA Strattons 1-33 was the turning point as he slowed the Lancashire assault to a point where it could not get out....

After the game Redbacks manager Brendon Goff told reporters how happy he was with his sides performances..
"The boys are continuously performing, they are rising to the occasion every week, they have had a gruelling season and they still manage to play to this level, Its a credit to them"..

When asked about the Contract situation at the club for next season Goff said " We haven't really spoke about it, although there are guys who have been given permission to negotiate for next season but the majority of the squad have been performing brilliantly all season and its going to be very very difficult, and with both rookies performing admirably so far in the Academy its going to take alot of negotiations with players and the SACA as to who stays and who goes"...

When asked about NSW manager Bugssy Malone's comments that he does not expect to win next weeks clash against the Division 1 Leaders Goff Laughed... " Bugs is a clown, he is always trying take the focus off his team, He has a great side and although they are down they have the ability to beat any team on their day"...

nsw lack luster performance

nsw put in a terrible performance against the men from yorkshire, (but take nothing away from the yorks), to give yorkshire there first ever defeat against the mighty nsw blues. in a one sided performance nsw didnt really turn up and have gone from 1st on the table and 2 points clear to a 3 way tussel for the top spot. bugs malone unhappy with the performance and the very next day said there would be cuts made to the side with only a hand full of spots confirmed for season 4/5.

nsw hit 250 odd and was probably never going to be enough with kallis only really showing true fight with 69, mcdowell also did well with 45. yorkshire cruised with only loosing 2 wickets did it easy for the upset and see them catapult to the top spot.

well done yorks

bugs malone will be having a week of closed training sessions, no public , media no one!!!!!!!!, as they try to get there season campaign back on target for promotion.

LANCASHIRE GO DOWN TO UNBEATEN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

SA batted first and racked up an imposing 306/3 with D.Lehmann (133no) and K.French (98no) rescuing their side from an unsteady 85/3 to add an unbeaten 221 for the fourth wicket. M.Jenkins had initially got the innings off to a flyer with a quick 52.
M.Mendis (9-2-43-1) and E.Kellar (9-0-48-2) were the best of the Lancashire bowlers.

The Lancashire batsmen also found batting conditions to be comfortable as they set about their big chase.
A.Schiller (42), M.Ramprakash (92), J.Madanagopal (50) and O.Beasley (39no) all looked impressive, but the difference between the two sides in the end was some tight bowling from R.Stratton (10-2-33-1) and B.Dennet (10-1-41-1) that tied down Ramprakash and Madanagopal at a crucial stage of the innings.
Lancashire spluttering to finish at 250/4, 56 runs behind the jubilant South Australians who maintained their impressive unbeaten run in the Division 1 OD competition.
