ACT versus Free State

The game between ACT and Free State ended as soon as it begun. The comets won the toss and sent Free State in on a fairly dodgey deck.
But it was all the bowling, only 1 free state player managed double figures, Leibenberg managed 18 from 13 balls. Morne Van Wyk was awarded free states player of the match award for ebing the only batsman that fell to a bowler not named Matt Ramage.
Ramage taking a WCC record 9/7 from 4 overs. A simply awesome display. Simon mann taking the other wicket.
Free State all out for 36 in 10 overs.
ACT had the champagne flowing at the change of innings break, and to Brad Hoggs surprise he was called to the middle when Dawn was dismissed, half drunk Hogg was chosen to bat as he was closest to a set of pads when the wicket fell.
Hogg finished 20 not out from 18 balls, he was in a rush to get back and keep the party going.
ACT unbeaten after 3 games in the 1d comp are looking the good, Free State, not quite as well.
Man of the match was of course Matt ramage for his 9/7

International Captain
Kent Bowlers Battle In Vain

On a fine day at Canterbury, Kent CCC welcomed the star studded Redbacks to the ground for what was likely to be a fantastic game.

Kent were always going to be up against it, in 3 seasons Kent have only managed to beat the Redbacks on one occasion (VB Cup 1st Round – Season 2) all other meetings Blewy has lead his side to comprehensive wins.

On a slightly green pitch, it seemed that it wasn’t going to favour either batsman or bowlers.

However on winning the toss Kent elected to bat first and the decision seemed to be a good one when the opening pair of Gibbs and Cox put on a quick fire 43 for the first wicket.

However as typical of Kent these days, we did our best to fall apart quicker than the Bangladeshi cricket team facing Australia.

Once again it was left to B.Allen who held one end down but wickets just kept falling at regular intervals with only two of the next eight batsman managing a score over 10. Allen reaching his 50 before being the last man out for 58.

Kent: 168 All Out (34 Overs)

B.Allen 58, H.Gibbs 31; S.Bond 5/31, H.Axelby 2/20 and M.Harrity 2/26

In reply the Redbacks would need just 169 runs at a very comfortable 3.3 an over.

However Kent CCC are never ones to give up easy and were determined to make life hard for SA, and they got of to the best possible start when T.Murtagh had one of the danger batsman M.Jenkins caught for a 10 ball duck.

However this ment that Kent’s day just got worse as the evil devil that is Lehmann walked to the crease, who on every occasion has destroyed Kent single handed… the last match it was a massive 120 from about 80 balls, today however he played a much more controlled inngs (still Top Scored though L ) he was well supported by the former ACT duo of S.Williams 24 and B.Dennet 35.

S.Bond not renowned as the best batsman in the world, held his nerve and played a solid innings and saw his side all but home with 19* (43).

However the travelling Redback fans had their hearts in their mouths with the scores tied at 168/7, when M.Saggers struck two wickets in three balls.

However T.Murtagh bowled a maiden and Saggers kept the batsman waiting for that one lone run to win, bowled five super deliveries before concding a single from his last ball of the over.

However on a sour note the game no doubt would have been even tighter had Kent’s star spinner been allowed to bowl at his nominated 1st / 2nd change, rather than about the nominated 4th change bowler in D.Marsh.

South Australia: 169/9 (49 Overs)

D.Lehmann 43, B.Dennet 35; M.Saggers 2/25, M.McCague 2/32 and T Murtagh 2/32

South Australia won by 1 wicket
Man of the match is S Bond

Another poor showing from ND has led Eyes_Only to make wholesale changes for the next match.

Eyes_Only was disgusted at the team's poor showing which had them all out for 67 chasing Canterbury's massive 4/253.

Eyes only believes the team's sucess in the first round of the VB Cup led to the loss.

"I think the party went on for a little longer than it should have." Eyes_Only said at training today.

LANCASHIRE surprise visiting Queensland

Lancashire batted first and scored a respectable 251/6 with K.Baumgarner holding the show together with a fine 92no. Baumgarner had good support from A.Schiller (41) and J.Madanagopal (40) in particular.
A.Bichel was the best of the Queensland bowlers, finishing with figures of 10-1-33-2.

Queensland got off to a shocker in reply and were in big trouble at 48/4, A.Dale and S.Harwood wreaking havoc with the new ball. They were unable to recover sufficiently from this poor start, eventually being dismissed for 172 giving the home side victory by 79 runs. J.Englefield (37) was the only batsman to make a decent score.
A.Dale (9-2-28-4), S.Harwood (4-1-19-2) and K.Sullivan (2-0-8-2) all performed well with the ball for Lancashire.

LANCASHIRE – 251/6 (K.Baumgarner-92no, A.Schiller-41, J.Madanagopal-40)
QUEENSLAND – 172 (J.Englefield-37, A.Dale-4/28)

A good win for Lancashire over the reigning champions. Hopefully the side can kick on from here and cement a Division 1 spot for next season.

nsw back on track

after a poor vb showing last weekend, bugs malone got stuck right into the boys and it showed when they met surrey. nsw very determind won by 8 wickets to chase the 204 with 15 overs to spare and 8 wickets in hand.

surrey batted first and young gun d ferguson showed why nsw manager kept him with superb bowling figures of 10 overs, 2 maidens 4 - 29. backed upw ell by stallwords mcgrath, cairns and lee.surrey's batting wa very mixed and at one stage where 3 - 31 until a good partnership between v mane 52 (80) and g blewett 61 (97) who topped scored.

in the chase kirsten fell early but c richards dominated in another sensational performance with an unbeaten 106* (91) & kallis 74(89) who had a 2nd wicket partnership of 145. in the ned bevan also had an unbeaten 21 (28).

all in all bugs was pleased with his performance but said there was room for improvemnt but happy.

one of our main aims for this season was to get back into the division where we should, div 1. but we are just taking one step at a time. so its all coming in place well

thanks.

Colts vs TN

We Came into the match expecting to win, just not this easily

We Sent TN in to bat on a slight bowlers wicket and ripped them apart, bowling them out for 123 in 23 overs, Hoggard was the pick of the bowlers taking 2/18 and removing the ever dangerous Jayasuria. Cherry top scored with a quickfire 27 to top score for TN.

Sharath went out to score all of the runs by himself making a quickfire 18 before 3 quick wickets fell leaving us at 3/31, before Anderson - 28(20) and Katich 32*(36) secured the victory.

a good win as we now set about catching NSW for the fight for the div 2 OD title
