Well the colts have suffered thier 2nd straight loss in teh 4 day version of the game and well i would say that it can only get better.

we once again started well rolling karnakata for 234 witrh Noffke and weeraratne taking 4 wickets each.

unfortunatley teh colts batsmen failed to fire and jones cleaned up taking 4-36 the colts were also rolled for 253

Karna dominated from here on in with Attapattu and Troughton kaing centuries to lead Karna to 440 all out weeraratne took another 4 wicksts

420 odd was a big ask and the colts batsmen once again failed to fire at the end of the match and were bowled out for 275, full credit goes to teh Karnakata boys who are looking good to take div 3 out in the 4 fday version of the game

The Glamorgan side has scored its first 4 day win of the season much to the punters dismay.

The victorians got off to a great start achieving a first innings of 498 with Mott getting 127 and Sangakkara 208. The Glamorgan bowlers were pounded and Black took best figures of 3/95.

Glamorgan hit back well but were bowled out well short for 358. Powell top scored with 133 and Ian Harvey too 5/73.

Victoria than crumbled in its 2nd innings getting only 151. Elliott was the best getting 40 while Black took 5 wickets and Akram 4.

Requiring 292 to win, it was going to be tough. The boys held firm holding on with 2 wickets to spare. Dighe scored an invaluable 102 in the chase. Cameron White took 3/53.

The boys were extremely pleased with the hard fought win. It was unusual for the batting to hold up on the last day when a collapse was expected.

To all the punters out there watch out for the mighty Glamorgan side!!!

LANCASHIRE v QUEENSLAND

Lancashire manager had high hopes that his much strengthened side would defeat the visiting Queenslanders and indeed they went close. But in a close tussle the Aussie side sneaked home by 2 wickets to maintain their unbeaten run.

Lancashire batted first and made a disastrous start when A.Schiller was out to the first ball of the game!
K.Baumgartner (55) and M.Ramprakash (36) helped rescue the situation, but a mini collapse saw the side slump to 129/5.
M.Beerala (50), C.Schofield (57) and A.Dale (39) ensured that the lower order restored some respectability to the score and the Lancashire innings ended at 305 all out.
A.Sheriyar (24-5-74-4), Z.Faisca (28-6-93-3) and J.Hopes (13-1-43-2) were the most successful Queensland bowlers.

Queensland were in early trouble at 9/2 as M.Smethurst removed both J.Maher and N.Hussain, but M.Hayden (130), M.Love (74) and M.Slater (62) saw their side through to 305/3 before they collapsed to be all out for 347.
Lancashire spinner M.Pushpakumara sparked the demise, ending with figures of 24-4-73-5.

A good second innings by the home side would have put the Queenslanders under pressure in the fourth innings on a turning pitch, but alas it was not to be.
The top three, A.Schiller (32), K.Baumgarner (43) and M.Ramprakash (49) got the innings off to a solid start, but the middle order failed to consolidate and Lancashire was all out for 215, leaving the visitors just 178 to chase for the win
A.Sheriyar (17-6-66-4), J.Hopes (11-3-37-3) and Z.Faisca (13-2-51-2) again were the bowlers to do the damage.

After J.Maher again fell early to M.Smethurst, M.Hayden (42) and N.Hussain (36) went through to 82/1 before the top order fell away to leave Queensland at 106/4.
However, ex-Lancashire man A.Flintoff again diddled his former team mates as his 41no held the middle and lower order together sufficiently enough to steer Queensland to a vital victory by the slender margin of just 2 wickets!
M.Smethurst (17-5-46-4) and C.Schofield (10-1-40-2) were the pick of the home bowlers.

DAMN!!!

Disappointing batting efforts from R.Dravid, J.Modanagopal and M.Mendis and a lacklustre bowling performance from strike bowler A.Dale contributed to the home side’s loss, but this is a strong Queensland side who’ll be there or thereabouts at the end of the season, so all is not lost yet!

Wawrickshire vs Worcestershire

Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat and in no time the dangerous Jayasuria was back in the pavilion without troubling the scorers. Worcs were on top with Warwicks slumping to 3/44. But a massive partnership between M Wagh and Manjrekar saw them move to 228 before the 4th wicket fell. Giles and Sriram also posted half centuries to see Warwicks finish at 486. The star of the innings was definately M Wagh who scored 183. The only option was for Worcs to draw.
This proved harder than it sounded with Worcs falling to 4/102 before the batsman tried to grind out some innings. Worcestershire were all out for 254 meaning they had to follow on. Lee Carseldine top scoring with 55.
A great performance from the batsmen in the 2nd innings saw Worcs make 496 putting the match beyond Warwicks.
Top scores in the second innings saw Carseldine make 150, he was supported well by Flower (73), Dighton (66) and Yound (53*)
The match finished in a draw with Warwicks finishing at 3/96.

Tamil Nadu VS WA

Well we were not looking good entering the match as we were positioned 2nd last and we faced the difficult Western Australia.

Tamil Nadu were sent in to bat and we only lated 9 runs till the captain Hemaneth Kumar fell and it went all downhill after that.
Stewart was our top scorer with a valuable 38 off 52 balls and our total was a lowly 144.

Coach Tass Assarapin gave a huge spray to his team at the interchange demanding wickets. It seemed to have worked as WA were 1-23 untill Langer and Gilchirist steadied the ship. Every batter got a good score as they got to 228. Coach Tass Assarapin then brought in the great Ian Harvey to the dressing room in order to motivate the Mighty Tamil Nadu side.

It mustve worked as we steered to one of our best scores of 327 with a great 63 by stewart again top scoring and a valuable 46 by keeper Arasu.

WA then required 245 to win and with Langer and Martyn both making 50 the game was put beyond doubt. Man of the Match was T.Kumaran from WA and congrats for WA. You were the better team!!

Two in a Row for Canterbury

This was always going to be an interesting match with Canterbury coming off a hug OD loss and Somerset having managerial problems.

Cant got off to an average start with a score of 301. Opener Ben Johnson continued his excellent for with his 3rd 50 from 3 innings. The only other player that performed well with the bat was Chanderpaul who has also been in good touch. He made an unbeaten 87. The wickets were evenly taken by the Somerset bowlers.

Somersets 1st innings was pretty poor with the team only managing 205, with Blewett making a half century. This damage was caused by just one bowler, Kirby who too 7 of their wickets.

With a fairly small lead, Canterbury needed a good performance and thats what they did making 447 before declaring with the loss of 6 wickets. One of those wickets was Johnson who scored a double century with 228. Chaderpaul continued his good form with 82 while Jaffer also got a half century.

Needing 543 for victory, Somerset got off to a good start, making 13 without loss until it all fell apart and they were bowled out for 212. Wood scored 58 while Kirby, Mills and Cornelius took the wickets.

It was a match that produced a few division 3 FC records with Johson setting a new high scoce and Kirby taking most wickets in an innings and match.

KARNATAKA VS COLTS

Karnataka were put into bat by the visiting team. They got off to a good start with 1st wicket patnership of 68.M Attapatu and N Knight making 40 and 48 resp. But after this wickets fell regularly and the hosts got out for 234.A Nofkee and K Weeraratne were the pick of the colts bowlers taking 4 wickets each.

Colts had to post a big total to put Karnataka into pressure but their wickets fell regularly and they were all out for 253.A Jones once again showed that why he was considered on of the best all rounder in WCCC by taking 4/36.For colts only their wk made 49.

Colts got a very slender lead which was not going to be enough to put pressure on the Karnataka batsman.N Knight fell early. Then there was a patnership of 194 between M Attapatu(122) and A Kale(88).After this Jo Troughton came to the party and scored a century (102).With the help of this Karnataka posted a huge total of 440 in the 2nd innings.

Chasing 422 to win was never going to be an easy target for Colts. They lost wickets at regular interval and were allout for 275.A Jones and V Bahradwaj took 3 wickets each.

This was one of the big games in div 3 as two teams favourites for promotion clashed with each other.Karnataka after winning 2 matches are very much in the hunt nut Colts will have to do a bit of hardwork if they want to get promoted as other teams are also playing quite well.

A great effort by the team winning by 4 wickets.

After bowling out the home side for 195, Gillespie getting 6-66, we went into bat with high hopes of putting out a high score. We didn't really do that. Getting bowled out for 213, with only Jamie Cox getting a 50.

We had a lead of 18 runs, not huge but enough. Bowling a second time we restricted Auckland to 242 all out, with Anderson getting a slow, ground out 73. Gillespie took 4-61 to end up with a 10 wicket haul, and each of our other bowlers getting two wickets. Canning 2-51, Muralitharan 2-52 and Kulkarni 2-59.

Going into bat on a turning pitch, we struggled early but went on to win the game, thanks to some strong middle order resolve. Hills 57, DiVenuto 39 and Rudolph 45* all getting good starts, to push us over the line.

Auckland 195 and 242
Tasmania 213 and 6-225

Tasmanian player of season points…
Jason Gillespie - 30 points
Dean Hills - 20 points
Jimbob Rudolph - 10 points

Next week another ONE DAYER...

Blewy

Cricketer Of The Year
Well SA had high hopes of defeating Mumbai when the teams met in the vital 4 Day clash last week...

South Australia won the toss and amazingly Captain Darren (Nasser) Lehmann defied Managers orders and elected to bowl 1st...
The Decision spelled the end for any chance SA had of defeating the Indian Giants...
The Indians amassed a huge AO 461 with captain and star rookie T.Darden continuing his brilliant start to the season with yet another big hundred...
Harrity and Watson the best of the bowlers for SA....
In reply the SA boys struggled, depsite most getting to the 20's only Miller passed the 50 mark with a solid 65 but SA were eventually dismissed for a megre 220 and were forced to follow on...

Following on the SA started alot better with Laxmann and Jenkins putting on a 100 run stand before the run out of Jenkins signalled a collapse...
Laxmann made 125 and Samuels 57* with the rest crumbling SA AO 335...

With only 90 odd runs to win Mumbai crusied to an easy win with Darden leading the way 62*...

A dissapointing result with manager Brendon Goff adamant had Lehmann listened to instructions his team would have won.....
