Ritchie sticks with team

Northern's 2nd XI manager Zac Ritchie has decided to stay with the team that lost to ACT by 8 wickets last week. W Pointer has been named as 12th man despite having an impressive return to OD cricket, returning 1/45 off his ten overs.

These injuries (and AWOLS ffs) are ****ing bull****. Just had to happen to the most crucial OD batsman and by far my best bowler. No chance of it happening to a 2nd string player of course :@

Titan's Struggle To Hold On

Northerns 2nd XI suffered a major collapse in their second innings to steal defeat from the jaws of victory. Chasing only 143 to win, M Atkinson tore through the batting lineup with figures of 6-32 off 10 overs which sealed the victory for Leicestershire. Earlier the English side had batted first and were bowled out for a disappointing 127, V Harkness being the main destroyer with 6-30 off 17.2 overs. Northern's then came out to bat and were buoyed by a superb century from captain A Wykes who stroked his way to 113, the rookie showing tremendous temperament. The lower order chipped in with some helpful runs, Hutchinson and Gavaskar both reaching half centuries as the wickets were shared amongst the Leicestershire bowlers.

Then came the fight back as the top 6 for the Englismen all got starts, 3 of them going on to make scores of 50 or more and securing a small lead. The South African openers were confident but after AS Das fell the rest of the lineup were rolled for a pathetic 97.

7 Wicket Loss for Northerns

Northern's season under manager Zac Ritchie grew even darker as they took on Hampshire in their Round 11 One Day clash. The game was being billed as a tight one, with both teams looking to start their charge towards the end of the season. On the day however some superb bowling took it's toll on the Northern's batsman who failed to lift the run rate when required. Thanks to impressive 90's from K Pietersen and O Hutchinson the South African based team were able to lift themselves to a respectable 268/4 off their 50 overs.

Hopes of being able to defend the total were soon demolished with Hampshire opener S Graham scoring a rapid 40 off 27 balls while number 3 batsman E Drake scored an unbeaten century at better than a run a ball. P Thompson was the best of all the bowlers, taking 2/42 off his 10 overs.

Northerns 268-4
K Pietersen 99 (98), O Hutchinson 98 (118)
P Thomspon 2/42 (10)
Hampshire 269-3 (44)
E Drake 103 (101)
T Gavaskar 1/55 (9)
