Round 10 Reports !

Umpire Money

State Vice-Captain
After winning 5 straight this was set to be a cracker.
Yorkshire started slow and only made 68.
Now the lowest total in the league. Thank You.
And once that was the total NSW didnt have to do much to get the runs. THe match took a total of 24 overs.
Great game.
Now the CA Cup final looks but a dream away.

LANCASHIRE v MUMBAI.

Mumbai batted first and looked to be in big trouble at 92/5 with J.Anderson and P.Martin having ripped the top off the batting. However A.Muzumdar(96) and V.Mane(78no) responded in style to take Mumbai through to an impressive 271/6.
C.Schofield(2/45), J.Anderson(2/51) and P.Martin(2/55) were the best of the home bowlers.

A.Swann carried on his impressive season as one of the league's batting stars by racking up his third century(121), receiving marvellous support from N.Fairbrother(81no) as the home side desperately pushed for the win.
But Lancashire fell just 12 runs short of victory at 259/5 in a very tight finish as A.Agarkar bowled beautifully at the death to finish with the best bowling figures of the match (2/35).

Lancashire now completely out of the running for top honours with manager GrahamB stating that his bowlers have a lot to prove in the remaining games if they wish to be amongst the 10 squad members retained for next season.

The Somerset v Glamorgan match in division 2 promised to be a close encounter. Somerset batted first and reached a respectable total of 6/220. Andy Flower topscored with 91 and Blackwell hit an unbeaten 45. Parkin with 2/28 and Croft 1/18 off 10 were the pick of the bowlers.

The Glamorgan chase didn't go well as they were contained by the Somerset bowlers. Maynard made an unbeaten 74 but was very slow as Glamorgan fell 27 runs short at 4/193. Dutch with 2/34 was the best for the home side.

A disappointing result for Glamorgan and the manager will be experimenting with his side for the rest of the season. Expect to see some unusual decisions over the coming weeks.

All Time Legend
Tasmania has played yet another blidder of a game when it counted to give them a chance of missing the end of season cut. After beating Northern Districts in a friendly the previous week, Tasmania had to this as a final chance they had to beat the relagation drop.

Batting first they began poorly with Cox (12), Hills (9) and Pascoe (10) all given out LBW to shocking decisions. With the team struggling the Northern Districts onslaught at 3-36, captain Ricky Ponting and Micheal Di Venuto steady the ship. Together they scored a partnership of 107, and when Di Venuto fell for 44 of 76 balls Tasmania where once again steady at 4-143.

When Sahne Watson fell for 16, leaving Ponting high and dry with only Clingeleffer and the tail to come, it seemed to be a repeat of their season, doing well to get a good position and then falling away. But not for the first time this season Clingeleffer held on for a galant 23*, helping Ponting to another three figure effort. The captain of Australia scored 108* of 124 balls making it one of his finest efforts this season.

So after a handy start Northern Districts let the Tasmanian innings slip away, Pontings 108* and Di Venuto's 44 help get the Pandas to 5-237 off their 50 overs. Bowling for the away side was a bit lack luster in parts with only Yovich (2-54) getting multiple wickets.

Northern Districts had hoped for a positive start from opener H. Marshall but hopes of that soon fell away after he was caught by Di Venuto in the slips for a golden duck, after one ball Northern Disticts 1-0. The Tasmanians also let go of their good start letting Parlane and Bailey both get starts until Bailey fell for 25 at the score of 2-64. Martin fell at 15 and Northern Disticts were in trouble at 3-88.

The loss of Parlane triggered the end for the for the Districts side losing wickets at 110, 112, 118, 123 and 129 the loss of five wickets for nineteen runs. Only Bradburn and Vettori put up a show for the Tasmanian side as they feel apart. When Shane Watson took Yovich for 2, it was all over for the Northern Disticts team 10-155.

Bowlers for the victorious Tassie team were D Wright (4-15), S Watson (3-50) and A Downtown (2-25). But the victory was not all good news for the Tasmanian team suffering an injury to star opener Dean Hills, he was carted of to the Vet after getting out LBW with possible Knee Ligament Damage if this is true then he will be out for the rest of the season.

Paid The Umpire

Tasmania by 82 runs.
Man Of The Match: Ricky Ponting 108* and a run out.

Well its was the battle for the top of Division 2...

Tamil Nadu V South Australia

The Tamils won the toss and elected to bat, things looked very good for them with a opening stand of 124 between Ramesh and Sharath before the later was dismissed for a steady 46...
The Tamils continued with Ramesh, Madanagopal 68 and Badani 57, all showing good fight and when Ramesh was eventually bundled out for a even 100, Tamil Nadu were looking very dangerous....
A score of 5 for 289 from there 50 overs was something that SA weren't looking for...

The bowlers struggled with Blocker Wilson and old Pete McIntyre picking up 2 each...

In reply SA knew they had a tough task ahead but both openers got to 30 before they fell Adcocks 30 at better than a run a ball...
Lehmann entered but Blewett again departed early for only 7 and things weren't looking the best for SA, but Boofs inspiration rubbed off on Miller and Harris as the two gave great support to their captain who pummeled the opposing attack to all parts on his way to an amazing 133* from only 106 balls....
Miller fell for 48 but Harris's 31 from 18 was enough to get SA over the line with an amazing 4 overs left....

SA 4 for 293 and winning by 6 wickets to move to top spot on the Division 2 table...

Man of the Match without doubt was Darren Lehmann for his superb 133*, SA now go on to play Worcester who they forfeited against in the 1st round...
They will be out for revenge....
