Based on real experience, the first unit actually gelled as a unit.
Whereas the second, Wasim and Waqar were notoriously jealous of Shoaib while disliking each other too. That unit will likely not deliver the results it could (unless captained by Imran).

They were on the decline and this young gun with an ego was rising up and reportedly not listening to their advice but also made them insecure.
Wasim and Waqar themselves didn't like each other.

Waqar declined. Akram was at the fag end of his career.
Shoaib Akhtar may not have been as good as the two “W” but he was very popular with the fans and his outspoken attitude wasn’t liked by many
