Representitive Season

Mister Wright

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Hi everyone!

I think it would be a good idea to resurect the representitive season. It would be a good way to keep people interested while everything is being prepared for the next season. I got pretty bored at work the other day and came up with a possible way of making it work with six new teams in division six.

The competition would be split into 4 groups;

ANZAC
ACT, Auckland, Canterbury, Northern Districts, NSW, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia,

Europe
Glamorgan, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Somerset, Surrey, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire

Asia
Chittagong, Colts, Galle, Karachi, Karnataka, Lahore, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu

ROW - Africa/Americas
Barbados, Free State, Gauteng, Guyana, Jamaica Mashonaland, Northerns, Western Province

The managers of each representitve team would come from the managers from the repsective teams. 2 players will be nominated by each manager from the ANZAC and Europe teams to give squads of 20 to be used in both one day and first class fixtures. Because Asia and ROW only have 8 sides to choose from, 3 players will be nominated by each manager in the respective teams and the managers of the representitive teams can trim from that player pool to a squad size of 20.

These are just initial thoughts, and I would like to get everyone's opinion on the possibility of having the representitve season resume, especially the board's opinion.

I'd be more than happy to run the simulations and organise the entire competition.

Thanks for your time,
Kyle (Guyana Manager).

I was thinking about something similar at the start of the season, when we had the 'Big News' debate. My idea was pretty much the same, but i couldn't think of a way to keep all managers interested. But if each manager got to select 2 to 3 players from their team, it would keep some interest. Also i think the board should select the manager of each region who selects to final XI and the top 20 sqaud. Im all for the ideas, but im not on the board and not a experienced manager, so i guess i don't have that much say.

Yeah between season 5 and season 6 there was a massive time difference and I think that is why a lot of managers got disinterested this season. If we have something to keep people interested between trading and the next season then it may keep more managers in the game.

Personally aside from getting the results, I feel that trading and the draft in between seasons is the most interesting part. Gets you thinking...

Maybe we could weave the new finance system into a representitive season, with some kind of cash payout? Could generate more interest.

Seriously, I reckon we could get this going well if we find a way to keep everyone happy...lets all throw ideas around...

Personally, I'm waiting for this season to end so I can get trading! :D
One month to go, should be very interesting. For some reason i don't think i will be too active during the trading period.

im a big fan of the Rep season and that idea is pretty similar to the ones we have had in the past but with the new teams added in so i like it - even if Colts have been kicked out of the ROW region :p

i could imagine the Anzac team now for 4d
1 Holland
2 Platt
3 Midlane
4 Dravid+
5 Smith
6 Ponting
7 Tamhane
8 Plummer
9 Clarke
10 Moore
11 Harwood

or something along those lines, i find it hard to see that side getting beaten...

I think Europe might give it a run....

Also with only two or three players from each side you would think it would even up the teams.

our biggest danger would be Asia i reckon, Europe would finish last imo...

Nah we'll be ****.

In OD it will rely heavily on the Colts and in 4D it will rely heavily on TN. If we only get 3 players each Asia won't win it. I think it's a bit unfair though, as we only have 8 teams and 3 of which are from division 6.

It'll be interesting though!

The Asian team will probably also have some good players from Karachi and Karn, who seem to be good in both forms. The starting XI will pretty much be made up of those four teams, Colts, TN, Karachi and Karn, plus one or two top players from the other teams.

The only problem i could see is ROW, with only WP in D2 in 4D and the rest are in the lower divisions. But over time then i think it will all even up.

Another idea is that the winning team from each division plays a combined XI from the other 5 teams, instead of representitive stuff. Meh, its a thought.

Albeit a pretty crap one, but its all I have
