Rank these post war, pre professional era greats on their primary skill (Lindwall, Weekes, Harvey, May, Trueman, Cowdrey, Barrington)

So we do comparisons between batsmen and bowlers, bowling allrounders and wicketkeepers, and everything in between, so figured let's do one for this era. It's the first era where I think quality seam bowling really had a greater impact than spin, which continued throughout most of cricket history. So I've put up a listing of the top middle order bats and seam bowlers of the era, and see how you rank them. :)

Dunno exactly off the top of my head. Somewhere in the 10-15ish range maybe breaking into the 10?
Would expect them to crack the top 10 easily then, unless you don't rate these batsmen much at all, which I think you do...

Unless of course you generally just rate bowlers as being greater than batsmen...

There was a thread here almost a year ago where people posted their top 20 batsmen. Barrington was 14th for me. No other batsman here made it.

I found Barrington, May and Weekes really hard to split. Quite possibly all middle order bats in my sixth XI.

Dang, did Trueman do something to your family? Rating him below the otherwise universally bottom ranked Cowdrey, who honestly was in almost as something of a joke option.

Treating this not as a "cricketer" comparison but as a cross-referencing comparison, so ignoring that batters are better than bowlers:

Lindwall
Trueman
Weekes
Barrington
Harvey
May
Cowdrey

Still got the bowlers on top though, it seems.

What do you mean by that? And how are batters better than bowlers in Test cricket, I would have thought the opposite would generally be the case ( Bradman excepted )?
