Nah, Barrington is better in Australia (though Compton is no chump there) and in South Africa but Compton is far better in England (where they'd play 50% of their games) and better in West Indies, so about even, I'd give to Barrington because Compton messed it up in South Africa but definitely closer to Compton than to Rahul in term of skill, just for reference.

Runs in England and West Indies:
Compton: 4,311 @ 59.05
Barrington: 4,055 @ 49.45

why does this matter? because Compton player 63% of his innings in England/West Indies while Barrington around 68% in these countries, so logically if they played together, Compton would outperform Barrington for 2/3 of his career, he'd be outperformed in Australia but I reckon Compton would perform well against the diminished 60s attacks from the Invicibles attack, it leaves India and Pakistan where it's impossible to say how Compton would do in internationals, and obviously South Africa, simply put, if they played together then there's very high probability that Compton would be viewed as the greater of the two Batsmen.

Compton also has a 20 year long career, Barrington has 10 years.

honestly, Compton over Barrington wouldn't be outrageous
