Nope. Ponting is just better at flat surfaces and bouncy ones. Great against pacers on bouncy turf, but so was Dravid against swinging conditions. Think 2011 England triumphs.

So is Dravid is better against pace overall, and spin too. So why do you rate Punter over him?

Ponting was arguably the 2nd best Ever on flat pitches. That counts imo.

Yeah Ponting was a good flat track bully, on tough pitches he was not on the level of geniuses but a beast on flat tracks.

Yeah but shouldn't that be factored in while rating them against pacers and spinners?

Against pacers I mostly rate only on tough conditions. I don't think smashing Ashwin on SA counts as being Great to spin.

Ponting would make my tier 1 of batsmen against fast bowling along with Lara and Gavaskar while Dravid is probably in tier 2 with Miandad and Root.

Dravid is definitely much better against spin.
