pakistan fast bowling

now that both asif and shaoib are ban for 1 and 2 years who is going to lead pakistan's fast bowling line up. the worst part is that world cup is next year and pakistan has to play the world cup without these two top bowlers. they have home series against west Indies and a series away in south Africa before the world cup. who do u think would be the one leading the fast bowling line up in these series, world cup and up coming series?

Omer gul
sami
rana
anjum
shabbir (his ban would be over in dec)

Umer Gul will be in the lead in my opinion. I felt that even though he wasn't good enough, he did pretty well in England considering the circumstances. And out of the current crop, he will most likely be the most successful. Would love to see Arafat play more reguraly.

Rana just had a good year in 2005. He hasn't done much since then, and I don't really expect him to.

Sami can still be lethal if he could just learn to control the ball better. Still not a bad option for ODIs, but certainly a liability in tests.

Anjum doesn't have the right stuff to be the best of this crop of bowlers. I think he has already peaked and won't get much better than he already is. He's a useful bowler in ODIs, but only has moments in tests.

Shabbir is another bright prospect if he can keep his action in check. If he can do that I expect him and Gul to be our best bowlers before the World Cup.

Other than these bowlers, we should have a decent crop of bowlers entering their late teens, so I'll be anxiously awaiting them along with Asif.

Samiullah Khan is meant to be pretty decent, both Michael Holding and Ian Botham were impressed by the kid during Pakistan's recent tour of England. Did not get a look in but his career stats are pretty impressive.

Also I thought Shahid Nazir was pretty decent against are lot, really unlucky in the first test match, caused KP a few problems.

Didn't realize Samiullah was that old. I was hoping he would get a chance so I could watch him bowl against England.

shabir umar and sami for me for both test and one day
np as u have talked about new bowlers from domistic cricket pakistan has some of them
among them are
mohmad khalil
Irfan fazil
shahid nazir (he has been around more than other guys)
they can be a good option for the team again not as good as asif but pakistan can depend on them as long as they perform in domsitic cricket to prove thier abalities.

Shahid Nazir should be given another chance, he looked alright in England. Umar Gul would be my pick to spearhead the attack, with Mohammad Sami and Shabbir Ahmed likely to back him up. Nazir shouldn't be too far away and will be the third seamer until Shabbir Ahmed gets back from his ban.

Ive been a shabbir ahmed fan since the start. As teh deadline draws closer, I am already excited to imagine the possibility of him bowling in teh world cup.

it'd be a delight to see bond, mcgrath, lee, pollock, and shabbir bowl in teh world all together. :)

Gul Out of the current guys he is the only one who looks international class.

Rana & Sami
Pathetic bunch of loosers.

Rao and Nazir Honest triers nothing more.

Yasir Arafat Have seen him run through oppositions when he is bowling well, a bit inconsistent even at the domestic level.

Najaf Shah Good bowler at the domestic level consistent but lacks the X-factor.

Yasir Ali & Akhter Ayub Both capable of bowling over 90 miles but still very young and raw.

Anwer Ali
Good potential with a bad action would be surprised if he ever plays for Pakistan.

Jamshed Ahmed only 17 with heaps and heaps of potential but still has a lot to learn so cannot be rushed to the international stage.

I dont know much about the up and coming pakistan bowlers, but out of the bowlers that played in England, only Gul looked remotely close to being test class. Sami is quite useless and why on earth anyone would want him in the side with or without Asif and Akthar being banned is questionable. Shabbir if hes sorted out his action would be a useful addition as well. I still think that if Rana sorted out his accuracy hed be quite a decent bowler.

I am pretty confident that Pakistani pace factory will produce some new fast bowlers. Pakistan's problem has been its batting and If they cant sort that out, they will have a good chance in the world cup.

i say u sound really muture here when u said that. what is wrong with my english? u know whatever or however my english is if it is bad or good at least iam trying to learn english. i have heard from a really educated person that it is a shame when some one ask u something and u don't know it and it is never humilating when u try to learn something and ask people. i have done this all my life. maybe that is the reason i speak five languages today and even ur language in a way as i am from ur country.

Fraz it is intersting u said that cuz i have always seen azhar as a meduim pacer. he had opend the bowling several times but i have always seen him as meduim pacer who could bowl in the middle overs and very effective in one day game.
his test bowling record isn't impessive at all. what stands up for me in his test career is his centuries against south africa. again it amazed me when u mentioned his name becuase he is out of the team for along time now. if he comes back he would be only effective in one day side

Someone mentioned Azhar Mahmood– Frankly, he's more likely to play for England than Pakistan, since I've seen him play for a ROW side against Pakistan in some ODI's. He may have a British passport.

I've seen Gul run through a full-strength Indian team on a helpful pitch, so he may be a good pick. Can't say much about Shabbir, given his action, but he's only medium-pace. His height, however, gives him an advantage. Rana Naved seems better suited for ODI's, and so is Abdul Razzaq. Sami may have his problems, but he's got pace and power, which every other bowler at hand lacks, and it's just a matter of putting it to good use. Maybe now, with a lot more responsibility on him, we'll expect improved performances. The rest are nothing out of the ordinary.
