Colts Keep the Dream Alive
The Colts have kept the dream of a 2nd OD title alive by beating Mumbai by 17 runs at Wankhede Stadium.

After winning the toss Sharath (29 from 17) and Guneratne (35 from 45) set about their work diligently, taking the attack up to the Mumbai opening bowlers. When Murtagh claimed Sharath, soon followed by McDowell claiming both Guneratne and Madanagopal it looked as if another collapse massive was happening. Anderson (44 from 31) however coolly Hammeered the Mumbai attack hitting 4 boundaries and 2 huge 6's before eing stumped off the bowling of Swinburn. Klusener, was for once out shone by his partner, however he did bat very solidly and kept the scoreboard ticking over. once Anderson was dismissed he batted very well with the lower batsmen. McDowell was re introduced soon after Andersons demise and claimed Liyanage and Payne in 3 balls. Shaw tried to get back to his impressive from from last season but was cauhgt on the boundary for 14. Brett Lee was told to go afterhim but was stumped first ball. Klusener followed suit soon after leaving the colts looking dead at 9/239 with 6.2 overs still to bat. Daly and Sullivan both performed well however to get the colts score to a very competitive 9/261 after 50 overs. Swinburn the star of he bowling with 3/37.

Brett Lee started well claiming Tendulkar with his last ball of his first over. Mumbai recovered well however with Kambli and Johnson keeping the score ticking over at a good rate, and were particularly brutal against Shaw and Klusener. Lee struck again towards the end of his spell to keep the colts in the game getting an edge off kambli's bat. Klusener claimed Johnson 2 balls later and mumbai were struggling slightly at 3/79. Young guns Darden and Francis batted brilliantly however and smashing 100 runs off the next 15 overs to put mumbai well in control. Sullivans introduction however changed the games course claining the curtial wicket of Darden for 41 and followed it up with a ripper to bowl Mcdowell 2 balls later for 0. Francis continued his assult keeping mumbai in the game before getting a very thick edge off kluseners bowling after a well compiled 74. Daly and Sullivan than picked up 3 quick wickets between them to end mumbai's effort. Shaw than finished the game claiming the wicket of Sharif. good efforts by all the bowlers , Lee claiming 10 overs 2/37, Daly 10 overs 2/42 and MOTM Sulliwan 10 overs 3/33.

Colts manager Age Master said after the game: "A great team effort, we came back well twice in that game. That win keeps out playoff hopes alive, though on NRR we are still likley to lose out. We play Karnataka next round and Victoria play Karnataka in teh final round. so at the moment we are still a shot. but we will have to play very very well"

Guyana post fourth win in a row

Guyana continue their move up the fifth division one day table. Guyana on the back of some strong batting and improving bowling thrashed Someret by 196 runs.

Neil McKenzie won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first and once again Yogi Hills (42) and Akash Chopra (32) got Guyana off to a lightning start with Guyana losing their first wicket for 60 after 9.4 overs. A slight collapse had Guyana in trouble 4-102 however a 129 run partnership bewtween Sarwan 73 and Cole 77 had Guyana in a very strong position of 6-241 off 38.3. Sarwan then combined with the tail to add another 55 runs to finish all out for 296 48.4 overs.

Somerset were out of the game when they were reduced to 4-16 after 3.5 overs with Lawson (3-31) taking three of those wickets. A partnership of 52 between Rayadu (31) and Warner (28) kept Guyana in the field Sarwan (2-34) removed Rayadu. Giles (1-22) and Rose (1-8) then cleaned up the tail with the help of three run outs as Somerset were dismissed for 100.

The only disapointment to come out of the match was an injury to Akash Chopra who will be out for five weeks, effectively ending his season.

Canterbury got thrashed by Warwickshire. So it looks like ive got another season in division 3.
yay!

"At the start of the season, if someone told me that Warwickshire would be leading our division in the one dayers, I would have told them they were stupid. To see us sitting on top really brings tears to my eyes (not literally). My side has played with passion, heart and guts. Steve Prefontaine once said 'to not give your best is to sacrifice the gift.' Some teams can perhaps be accused of this, my side certainly can't. We are in a good position now. We've got our net run rate into such a position that Tamil Nadu can't possibly pass it. So 2 wins will win us the title, regardless if TN can win 2 as well. If TN only win 1 from their last 2, we'll only need to win 1. Its ours for the taking, we just to have to take and not choke, like the Warwickshire teams of the past."
