*Official** New Zealand in England

Fantastic innings, when it mattered most.

I rate that as his best that I've seen, better than the one at The Oval last year.

The 100 shot was lucky, but he deserves it.

Fantastic hundred from Thorpy :D

7 to win now, and regardless if a batsman gets out surely the set batsman will be able to get over the line.... Oh and as I type 6! 3 to win.

Been a great Test match and it's only been the 3 drop ctahces from a otherwise perfect fielding display that have cost New Zealand.

2 to win....

Bit of a risky run there but missed the stumps and the scores are now level!

Thorpy on strike to hit the winning runs... inside edge onto the leg side and they get through for a easy run!!!!

England Won By 4 Wickets and Whitewash the New Zealand side 3-0 :D

Fantastic Test match and good luck to Chris Carins in retirement, all the best in the Fudge industry

While Thorpe was excellent, what a little gem of an innings from Ashley Giles. 36* from number 8 is very good in most situations, but in a pressure situation like this one it becomes crucial. Add that to his bowling, and he's maybe had his best match in England colours - certainly at home.

yep it was a whitewash..

Just pity we have had SO MUCH AGAINST US in this tour :(

Injurys GALORE.. no backups... etc etc etc

I think the main reason we lost the series was bracewell and his ideas..

I think the main reasons we lost each test (injuries aside) are as follows:
Lords - Poor bowling.
Headingly - Poor bowling.
Trent Bridge - Batting, second innings. Firmly believe it was the only thing that really let us down this time - the dropped catches were difficult catches and one of them I'd say wasn't even a catch at all (Marshall - he's too short to call that a drop). You could say the lack of bowlers in the team due to injuries, too, of course - but if we'd batted as we should have in the second innings, we'd have won this match with ease.

Good on England for playing the games right, though, and a deserved win over the players they were up against.

Harmison was in my opinion the one true clear difference between the sides.

Glad we annihalated your so-called world champs at the rugby or else I'd have nothing to finish this post off with. ;)

ok so what's next.............

Tri-Series..........
ICC Champions Trophey.........
Tour to BAN...........

2 x ODI series b4 the next tests - what chances that if Bracewell & Co are still around for the ODIs, then we'll primarily see the same players selected for both the ODIs & Tour..............

yeah but the poor bowling was due to injurys... and we could not plug the gaps cause of injurys cause of bracewell not bringing enuf people :P

And imho there were alot of poor selection decisions in the series (Macca for example)

Middle order collapses are a trademark of our game - a wicket going down alone is a very rare thing in NZ cricket, and I won't blame them for our losses because it's not like they've cost us in the past. Even without the middle order collapses, I still think the main things that let us down were what I stated just previously. Bowling for the first two matches then the second NZ innings of the last match (where the whole order fell apart after the top three). If we had good bowling at Lords, we could have won. If we had good bowling at Headingly, we could have won. If we had good batting in the second innings at TB, we would have won. If we had decent middle order batting, we could have forced draws, but without the bowling to back it up in the first two tests we'd still not have won. I guess what you said fits in with what I was saying for the second innings at TB though.

While the poor bowling was due to injuries, that's cricket. If you have an injury plagued side, you should get new players in and bowl them instead, and you have to have depth to call yourself a real cricketing nation so you can't complain that "oh, all our best guys are gone." At the start of the series, they didn't get injured mid-game, so that's not really an excuse. It was just plain and simple poor bowling by the bowlers we put in. If anything you could say poor selection, but that's too big a "what if" for my liking - for all we know, we could have had Butler and Adams in during the first two tests and been beaten by an even larger margin. I admit that I started to wonder with Macca.

On a sidenote, with only four players bowling themselves into a fatigued state, I'm surprised that Richardson, Macca and Astle didn't share even a tiny bit of the load so as to let the other guys keep their stamina up. Talk about bowling to the death.

Definitely Cairns is bowling 2/3 mph faster than ive seen him for a while, i guess he knows this is his last test so it doesnt matter if he knackers himself out,

He's apparently said that he's going to give it his all in this game because it doesn't matter if something breaks.
