well i don't see howard, parsons, bosh and harden being good enough to beat either the spurs or the thunder…so if they want to become real contenders, they need a lot more than bosh and parsons…

about wade, yeah he is the real loser in this deal, if he goes back to miami, it will be back to him carrying the team again and he has declined too much as a player to do that effectively…he can still be a complimentary piece on a contender provided he agrees to a big pay cut and a lesser role...
Yeah I wasn't declaring the Rockets to be the favorites in the West or anything, just expressing my regret that the Mavs will miss out on Chandler due to today's developments.

As far as Wade goes, he's probably my least favorite player in the league. That all has to do with his history with the Mavs. The fact that he might come out of all this as the big loser makes me very happy. :)

got it…which star are you guys hoping/trying to get? dirk can't carry the team like he used to, he needs superstar help, not just role players right?

i know, from when he singlehandedly whupped your team right?:p

I think strong role players is all Dallas can realistically expect to get. It's been established by now that no superstar wants to come here. Even with a great organization (which includes an owner completely devoted to winning), Dallas has struck out on every major free agent we have pursued in the last few years. We won in 2011 with Dirk and strong role players, hopefully we can do it again before Dirk has nothing left in him.

Haha, I think he had just a little help from the refs in that series! Ok he's a great player and all, but he's also a complete douche. When he (and Lebron) mocked Dirk's illness in the 2011 Finals. it sealed my impression of him. I will take joy in his suffering! :)

and now news circulating that bosh is on his way to houston…if melo also bolts to l.a, an already weak east would become worse…the pacers must be rejoicing as they and maybe chicago (if they get melo and rose comes back fully healthy) would be the only two quality teams...
The Cavs will be good with Lebron. Kyrie means he doesn't have to shoulder the burden offensively every night, especially late in the game where Kyrie is one of the best. If they manage to turn a trade for Love, they will be very very dangerous, and nigh unstoppable on offence. Defence will be suspect if they lose Wiggins though, and they need a center who's less likely to spend 50 games out injured than Varejao.

you are right, the cavs will be a very good team next year especially if they get love, i don't think they have enough pieces and depth to be a title contender though…and now it actually looks like bosh may sign a max contract with the heat after all and that wade and haslem will be back again with the heat as well, if that all works out, the heat will still be a decent team with the addition of granger and mcroberts especially in the east...

Best situation for LeBron. He "makes up" for the decision, stays in the weak East, goes to a team with incredible developing talent that he can help grow, and as dcye pointed out he'll have a good offensive core around him from the get go. Now with the 2 year contract he sets himself up very well for a large post-TV deal extension with the Cavs that'll take him into his twilight years.

In other news, Pau seems to have decided to come to Chicago. If we get to keep our core and Rose is healthy, and we've already signed Mirotic, this is what we look like now:

Rose/Hinrich
Butler/Snell
Dunleavy/McDermott
Gasol/Mirotic
Noah/Gibson

I reckon Pau plays a lot of C with Mirotic subbing in at the 3 occasionally. We could probably look to trade Taj to beef up our back court or get a better 3. Still, this is a lot more offense than we've had in a long time.

Mirotic is coming over this season? Anyway, the only fireworks the Cs got was Tyler Zeller and an expiring with their Exception. At least so far

so the good teams in the east are the pacers, the bulls, the heat and the cavs, that's two more than last year but i don't see any of these teams beating the spurs or the thunder without significant upgrades to their respective rosters. is there still any chance of the cavs getting love?

They won't take anything but Wiggins and I doubt the Cave would let that hold them back from Love, they just don't want to start negotiations by offering the house.
