*Official* England in New Zealand 2019

Hopeful here that the arrival of the one of the world’s best and the importance of getting KW early lifts Archer here. Again, just to stress, he isn’t bowling badly but it’s just looking flat when he bowls and not a whole heap of pace.

Very similar bowler, would do well in similar conditions and equally would struggle when Henry struggles imo.
Don't disagree but I think Bennett is a cannier bowler and whether Henry has a mental block at Test level or whatever is making him average 45, well it might not be there for Bennett.

NZ selectors are ridiculously conservative. Watch as we drop Ferguson from the squad and persist with a woefully out of form Raval for all the Australia tetss

It’s strange. They seem to have no problem rolling through different spinners but when it comes to anything else it’s not possible.

I’d take Glenn Phillips to Australia tbh. Would never ever happen obviously but we all know Raval isn’t scoring any runs against that attack.

Let Raval have a good domestic run to see if he can find form and throw in some young gun that shows promise. Bloke hasn't passed 33 all Summer

Just when it looked like we were content to let KW get set, Woakes bowls a beauty, seemingly from nowhere! We needed that!

Oh what, that wasn't part of the plan.

Worse, England might actually wake up now. Williamson has to be very disappointed with that, because England have already been somewhat sloppy and lacking in energy, so heads would drop if no breakthroughs (exc Raval) while the ball is new.

Raval should still be there, dulling the ball and browning the pitch. FFS, know your own job man!

For what it's worth, I still believe Raval is a good player and deserves to be there in general, just has been looking out of form lately and this probably isn't doing him a lot of good. Hope he proves me wrong in the second dig. Maybe bringing Phillips to Aus as a backup wouldn't hurt.

Doull damning Matt Henry with faint praise some time back saying "selected because he's a great team man". Clearly he and Richardson were feeling the opportunity cost of not selecting Ferguson.

Would hope Raval and KW get some time at the crease in the second dig. Need it badly going into the Aus tour.

Williamson exposed again. From across the dutch the sound I heard as he got out was a lot like a bubble bursting.

There's no domestic red ball cricket for 3 months.

If Raval is dropped, he's gone for the entire test season , no coming back (unless his replacement has a mare).

His replacement would be Rutherford.
