Very good opening spells by McGrath and Lee.

Cant believe the drop by Gilchrist - Aus still seem determined to let Eng off the hook all the time.

Each of England's top 3 have serious technical deficiencies.

Ill be surprised if Strauss re-scales the heights of his early test career.

Where is everyone?

I expect Warne to be coming soon.
Hello.

Good to see Australia show England up, when Brett Lee was concerned over Strauss when he hit him on the head.

Really made England look pathetic at Lords with their forced display when Ponting got hit.

Good to see that one of the teams plays within the spirt of cricket.

Hmm, has Old Trafford borrowed the Zimbabwean speedometer?

Gillespie just clocked at 90.9, McGrath early on was 89 and change.

McGrath often bowls effort balls in the high 80s, but his average is down in the mid to low 80s. Gillespie is quite capable of bowling 90 mph. In India in October and in the Australian summer his average pace was around 140-141 kph, which is around 87-88, so it's certainly not inconcievable that he could hit 90. He bowled around 88-89 a couple of times at Edgbaston too.

Big mistake playing him instead of Macgill.
Well, if Macgill was in, then the pitch would really have to turn, which it doesn't look like doing. Also, McGrath and Lee could be forced to bowl extended opening spells (which wouldn't be good considering their injuries) in order to get the ball spinning.

Why would you play Macgill on this wicket? Kasprowicz would have been the better choice, if Gillespie was to be left out.
I completely agree with you there, Faaip

Kapser>MacGill>Gillespie for mine.
As many say, he`s bowling alright, but doesn`t look like taking a wicket anytime soon.
