A chance remember. If he's going to rule himself in, he must have a really good session today said Punter. Staying tuned to Sky Sports News all day to see if there's coverage of McGrath running in, am awaiting the "Look away now if you're an England supporter, <pause for effect> pictures here of GLENN MCGRATH bowling in the Old Trafford nets..."
There's just no way someone can play a Test match as a seam bowler one week after doing extensive damage to ankle ligaments.

Well he was diagnosed by an english doctor............. who may have diagnosed him with a slightly more severe injury than actually the case.......... Anything to win the ashes i suppose :p

Hmmm... that could be the answer, yes. So McGrath to play then? Who misses out, Dizzy or Kasper?

Gillespie. so kaspa can forfill his role as the first change bowler rather than have gillespie in a role which he is relatively unfamiliar with.

Don't understand why - after getting a CA contract - they wouldn't call on Mick Lewis first. He's hardly a guy who leaks runs, especially over the last couple of years.

I'd say that (without bothering to look at his stats) that his economy rate in FC cricket wouldn't be all that crash hot as a result of his first few years, when he was bowling inswingers and the better batsmen hit him around for fun.

Last couple of seasons have been exemplary however.
Exactly what I've been walking around grumpily saying for the last 2 days. And besides, Tait is in the squad... is he there for anything more than to look good or...??

Think that's a little harsh on Kaspa, I thought he bowled decently in the first innings & his ball to get Bell was a gem. His figures in the 2nd look v ropey, but I don't think he did much wrong. At his pace & with Fred having a go there's only gonna be two results.
True. Kasper bowled very well in the 1st dig, didn't get the chance at the right times in the second (the ball continued to somehow land in Gillespie's hands), and when he did get his chance, the poms were in slog mode. If anything I'd be blaming Ponting for Kasper's poor 2nd innings figures.

Either one of them will play, or neither of them will. No chance in them both playing. Just mind games at this stage anyway I'd suspect.
Whatever, still amazing that McGrath is able to run in and bowl six days after tearing ligaments.

Aggers keeps going on about bringing in Tremlett for Hoggard at a bouncy OT, anyone actually think this will happen??

Pick Tait! I love watching him bowl... how will we ever know if he`s any good if he doesn`t play?

Bracken should be ahead of Clark, he`s in England and was the second best bowler to Tait.
if the pitch is as flat as the groundsman says it is, i think i'll enjoy bracken managing to somehow make his already useless test match bowling average look even worse tomorrow.

The journos asked Vaughan to give them a story for this evening's bulletins. He obliged by saying that they wouldn't decide their team before tomorrow - the obvious implication being that they were deciding between Tremlett and Hoggard.

Hoggard will doubtless play.

Totally what I've been saying to everyone at school but they refuse to listen ... if Australia bat first and get a good 1st innings total, it is hard to see them losing. Wonder who'll score the first century of the series ( if there is one at all :p ) ?
if australia bat first, then i have no doubt that they will win the game. if ponting wins the toss though, i think england start as slight favorites.
