Scorecard
Ball By Ball

The touring Australians emulated the Pakistanis with a winning start to their one-day tour, as they surfed to a victory over a reasonably strong A squad on the back of 81 from a belligerent Shane Watson. Cricket Web 'A' struggled in the bowling department, despite including a number of candidates for the full squad.

While batting first, Cricket Web 'A' struggled, with Fuller and Smith having been jetlagged after yesterday night's Twenty20 effort in Goffmouth. They performed reasonably well, yet there was no one to really take charge in the innings - Ben Read played a decent 82, but failed to go on, while de Silva only smashed out late. In the end, Cricket Web 'A' had made 258 for five on a decent batting wicket.

The lack of bowling was shown up, however, by Watson. Eight fours and two sixes were registered in his 64-ball masterclass, and Australia coasted to the target at near bonus-point speed. Ponting and Symonds also played themselves into form.

Cricket Web 'A' 258 for five (50)
Read 82, de Silva 56*

Australians 259 for four (41.2)
Watson 81, Symonds 61*, Ponting 47*

Australians won by six wickets with 52 balls to spare
Man of the Match: S. R. Watson (Australians)

(These players are available for the next FC round ftr. Except the ones playing Twenty20 tomorrow.)
