***Official*** Australia in Bangladesh 2017

This test is going just as I expected. Bangladesh had a lot of things going for them in the last test which don't always happen together.
Australia have a lot of things going for them this test which doesn't always happen together. Handscomb converting a start? Warner ton overseas in Asia? Lyon bowling fire? BD dropping a bunch of catches? Pat Cummins not breaking down?

Likewise BD have had so much that usually works not work for them. Mehdi having a bad couple of spells, Fizz having a bad couple of spells, Tamim failing twice, Kayes 2.0 reverting to Kayes 1.0. And as PEWS pointed out earlier, they chronically drop catches and have bad captaincy.

Every team who wins a test does so because things go in their favour. If things don't go in your favour, you lose games. That's how cricket work. You can't have everything go wrong and still win. You usually don't have everything go right and still lose.

To act as though this Test is some sort of justification of BD not being a good side who only wins when things work in their favour is ridiculous. The whole premise is ridiculous to begin with.

BD played better in the first test and won, and Aus are playing better here and are well in front. That's it. Simple.

Good thing bangers have going for them is a long batting line-up at least. Their team balance last test was woeful but even 4 down they've got some genuine batsmen to come.

(though classing most of their top 4 as genuine batsman may be a bit generous)

Ahh ffs this is pathetic

Lack of mental fortitude and basic discipline. 2-0 was for the taking here. Needed some of that grit shown by Warner and Handscomb and better catching. Can't do much about Mehdi and Fizz going missing at times with the ball - they are young and still learning - but so much stuff can be fixed. Really could have scored a lot more in the first dig, take the catches and Aus are bowled out much cheaper, and boom you're halfway to 2-0

Very disappointing. Young team tho. Hope they learn from this.

Mominul needed to come at #3. Kayes himself said hes not comfortable at 3 though I think hes not comfortable anywhere.
Eh I don't think that makes a huge difference does it. Kayes tends to be walking in pretty early anyways.

The Soumya experiment has failed. Still too raw. Kayes still has credit in the bank IMO, should move back to opening. Not sure what to do for the rest of the top order. Maybe bring back Mahmadullah tbh. We need some experienced heads in there.

All those things you're talking about are literally just one team playing better than another, not exactly what I think he meant by "things going for them".

An example of "things going for them" would be winning the toss on a deteriorating wicket, or playing a touring side that had their only warm-up game washed out, or having your opposition's leading fast bowler injured half way through an innings.

Playing well and making a hundred, bowling better, not dropping catches, someone who's been injured in the past not getting injured --> these are not the same kind of "things going for them", it's just playing better.

The wickets to spin this innings so far really lending support to the "better to spin the ball away" theory

Yes, I am doing the quoted line. BD win only when things are in their favour. Australia is a much better side than BD and do not lose to BD unless all things go against them. BD is too reliant on Tamim and Shakib. In the first test, both of them fired together and amazingly awesome at that. Also, Smith is this generation's Don. It is rare for him to fail twice in a test.

In my post, I am talking about consistency. If this was a 5 match series, BD would not have won more than the first test since the first test is when all things came together for them.

Moses should be back. Mushfiqur batting so low so he can keep is getting more ridiculous by the day, too - he has to bat top four. If he wants to have a go batting four and keeping (poorly) then fine, whatever, but he has to bat there. If he's not comfortable batting there while he's keeping then he absolutely shouldn't keep; he's **** at it anyway, and Bangladesh already have a specialist bat coming in at eight.

Like the #intent at 5/43, to come in as skipper and think "**** this, it's turning a bit and there's some up and down. Imma reverse sweep this ****er".
