Yeah, the noticeable thing is that even though his body position is often miles from textbook when he defends he consistently gets it right in the centre.

He also rarely defends with an angled bat, even if his feet aren’t where they’re “meant” to be. Brilliant player

The choice of shot was ok imo. Was a driveable length, he just got nowhere near it with his foot.

Hmm, looked a bit length to me. I'd be keener to have a closer look early on in Perth with a brand new ball. He's known as a dasher and it didn't serve him well

Nah it was nowhere near driveable IMO. You have to put that shot away until you're well set unless it's a proper road.

Regardless, he doesnt seem to play the balls angling away particularly comfortably. Wasn't prepared to write him off after the rough SA tour he had because the pitches were ridiculous but the signs werent great there either.

No more IMO, it's his extra bounce combined with his accuracy that works so well on Aussie tracks, even the flat ones.

True, but he's so skillful. Has all the attributes. I think he'd adapt and take bag loads

Regardless, he doesnt seem to play the balls angling away particularly comfortably. Wasn't prepared to write him off after the rough SA tour he had because the pitches were ridiculous but the signs werent great there either.

He just needs to tighten up and play compactly in SENA conditions. Hes only young and will hopefully adjust. It’s just hard to do when you play on certain conditions where playing away from your body doesn’t hurt you as much

Ordinary commentary team we have for the Fox summer. Shastri's always good in the BG tests & Scull is always value, but there's very little else.

Yeah, there was one block some time in the first session that stuck in my mind. He was curled way over yet the bat came through straight and he got it dead in the middle. Like he knew exactly where the ball was going to be.

He's bowled a lot on some of the flattest home pitches in Aus history too. The ones that Warner, Burns, Marnus etc have feasted on and boosted their averages. Better than his stats suggest

Haze’s average is incredible considering how flat pitches were in Aus in 2010s. Hope he can get it to under 24 although it’s unlikely.

The main reason he doesn't have 350ish wickets already is fitness, which probably would be an even bigger problem if he played for England with how much cricket they're expected to play. But this last two summers he might be in close to career best form, he has been utterly relentless
