and even if he is, umesh, siraj and pandya will play before thakur assuming everyone is fit

also, we don't really need a specialist 3rd seamer in india. we just need someone who can bowl in the first innings because the 4th innings will mostly be handled by the spinners. for that reason, i'll play pandya for his batting at 7

also not sure if kuldeep will suddenly leapfrog sundar after that debut performance

Hardik can't bowl, I dont think Umesh is there with the squad. The reason I mentioned Shardul was that he is the only one among those who can bat at 8 and playing Kuldeep will give us variety which we will sorely lack if we play both Sundar and Ash. I do not see them both playing if we are playing only 2 spinners. One possibility is that if the wicket looks more like a turner than what we have been told so far, then they may play Axar ahead of Shardul. Otherwise, I fully expect that to be the XI come matchday.

yeah i just don't want bumrah to play again so soon after he suffered from a workload related injury

ashwin floats it up and drifts the ball and is pretty much a world class off spinner at this point who bowls in the 80 kmph range

sundar bowls it at 90-95 kmph all the time and could hurry batsmen

there is enough variety already tbh

and i don't trust anyone to be as good a left arm spinner as jaddu so whichever slow left arm bowler we choose, it will be a massive downgrade
