NZ Womens player dies from Meningitis

Tim

Cricketer Of The Year
Frances King aged 22 has died suddenly from meningitis.

King played 15 ODI's for NZ & took 21 wickets.

On behalf of Cricketweb we would like to send our deepest sympathy to the King family.

Her 21 wickets were at an average of 19, and since NZ mainly play Australia that wasn't bad going.

I must say i find it a shame that in a tribute thread to a cricketer, people end up talking about what she looked like, rather than what a player she was.

Frankie was a medium fast bowler. Opened the bowling for Wellington but mainly a first change for New Zealand. More well known for her swing through the air than for pace. Was also quite a skiddy bowler, never got a lot of bounce. Best figures was 4-20odd earlier this year against the Australains

For her batting she batted 8 or 9 for New Zealand however was a top 6 batter for Wellington, Quite a gritty player.

Fielding was good. I remeber 2 really good run outs against Australia in the last few years. Fielded in the circle and always gave it 110%.

It just seems a shame

I was so shocked to hear this, I was in transit in Bangkok, it was the last thing I expected to hear. All happened so fast didnt it. Very scary.

I have played against her once or twice, very talented, and will be remembered for it.
