Geez that's a harsh team to start off with. Ideally, you'd want to aim for a team with primary skills (that is, bowling, batting, keeping) of at least mediocre, but preferably competent. You can buy players like this, this and this for very little (you definitely wouldn't want to spend much more than 10,000 on players like that). You'd also want to look at your net set up; ideally, you should look to pick up a few young (17 or 18) trainees and put them on two or three nets each. Give me a sec, and I'll draw up your best current XI (or at least what I think it would be).

Although I didn't pick Kirk (Hildred's fielding got him in), I'd put him on some nets (at least two batting nets) and train him up as he's young.
