Asif was definitely the better bowler who ruined his career through his actions. Harris wasn't that good for a long time but plays in a small window where he was at the top of his game. Hence his stats make him appear to be better than he actually was.
Asif wins this easily for me.

remove Lillee and replace him with Holding or Donald and Asif still ain't getting to the top ten bud
The way he started was very much like Philander was. But he could bowl everywhere. Never was the bowler who relied on pace, so a very long career was ahead of him, where he could have become even better. He had the potential to break in to top 10, if everything went well. Whether he would have got their or not is a different question. Every additional match he would have played not for the ban would have moved him closer there.

I agree.

Asif was a tactically brilliant bowler and the best with the new ball I have ever seen. In a short time he had Amla, ABD and KP rated him as the best pace, Ponting also rated him highly.

Over a long career he certainly had the tools for a great career. He lacked the professional temperament though.

Asif. Even the 'no ball' he bowled, he was only like an inch over the line. The man was in supreme control of his game.

As for Asif lacking pace, well he could bowl a quicker bouncer when needed to remind batsman not to take the piss.

Asif was ridiculously good. If he hadn't been a dumbass, it's likely he'd have had an ATG quality career. Tremendously skilled operator, accurate as hell, and had an action that in theory should have kept him going for a long time without much loss of incisiveness. He needed basically zero pace to be effective.

Harris was awesome after a decade of being crap, which is a bit different.
