And Imran was player of the series thrice against the one of the greatest teams ever to be assembled. LMAO at the idea that he is not elite level against the best of best.
Bro I'm not saying he wasn't good, but he can't compete with the impossible standard.

I do rate McGrath as the better bowler between the two. But I reject the idea that Imran would progressively become less effective as the opposition grows stronger. He is the kind of cricketer who raised his game against the best and actually skipped tours to weaker teams to prepare for bigger challenges.
Imran in his peak was a flat out better bowler than McGrath without doubt. McGrath only gets over him due to his insane longevity.

Damn I'm too late. Nevermind at least I get the last word:

I don't know tbh. He would have exposed issues they didn't even know they had. The Aussies of the 00s are lucky they didn't have to deal with someone of McGrath's level

edit: I'm pushing it a bit now aren't I
Agreed definitely, but only to an extent. I genuinely think both Aus bats and Aus bowlers of the era get overrated because they didn't have to face their own riches.

Really? Haddin is your number one choice for a specialist keeper? Even in the modern era thats a piss poor take.
No . I wanted 2 Wkt batsmen who are nearly equal in Test so that one side doesn’t get advantage. IIRC Haddin batting was extremely crucial in 2013 Ashes . So , he is not very bad player.
Can’t give Gilchrist to one and Knott to other because Gilchrist batting was much better . So , they aren’t equal player .

This question would have been more interesting if the option included Miller instead of Imran. Difference between bowling of McGrath and Imran is so miniscule that it should make no difference in this hypothetical exercise.

Not according to these guys here presenting McGrath as Mr Untouchable and Imran as ordinary.

Why Haddin & Dhoni?

That's an unnecessary advantage to Kallis and Imran that they don't need.
The entire premise is dumb. A player being better doesn't mean that you want to have an entire team made up of them. Nor is it a good way to prove an argument, especially where it's a nuanced one.

Believe one of the reasons some skills are rated higher than others here, can't be quantified (and put into a sim apparently)

And literally no one said that. The absolute worst in this thread was top 3 vs top 10
You know what we mean. Imran wasn't being given his due while McGrath was presented as Superman.

You didn't bother to even try to show the differential in the bowling. And your analysis was disconnected with how a real captain would actually make their decision.

Kyear, like myself, has his own unique form of logic
The thing is though, despite the recent skirmish I've had with Coronis re SR and Hammond et al, the only dispute I've had with anyone is over Imran and have never ever made it personal or an attack on him in any way, especially since my return. Yet Smali, Trundler, ORS etc drops these little comments event once in a while.

We've had this convo before, I want the very best bowlers, especially my opening bowlers, you among others believe that batting should be heavily factored in and it's a no-brainer. You personally believe that Imran is right up there with the top 3 -5 in terms of quality and I respect that, I just very slightly disagree.

That's the difference tbh, I can respect other's opinions and just agree to disagree, that's just impossible for some when it comes to Imran, which I find mind-blowing, especially since we mostly agree about most other players and topics. I'm not even that far off on the Imran one, but hey.

Smali will continue to drop comments like he has above, and like he has been doing for a decade, despite, again. We mostly agree in most areas.

You implied he is a cheat.

Tell me how an Aussie 2000s captain would view Imran or McGrath for their team, not your take.
