Cricketer Of The Year
Tate without his big series was still a completely respectable Cricketer, 117 wickets @ 27.1 and 1,043 runs @ 27.7.

Larwood averages 35 with the ball outside bodyline and just 17 with the bat.

This is without going into the amount of advantages a man like Maurice Tate brings in, he is obviously far more durable as he's a much slower bowler, Tate can also bowl about 50 more balls every morning and potentially more if need be.

I Don know whether Bodyline TV series (1984) is accurate or not, but in that series Surrey Captain Percy Fender mentions that Bradman would fail in England in 1930 as with that technique Bradman will not be able to play in the swinging conditions with Tate swinging the ball in… So Tate till 1930 was regarded as England’s best bowler although Larwood’s speed had won peer reviews.

tbf to everyone including Bradman. Ofc his 974 was an amazing achievement, but fun fact, only one English bowler remained in the side for every test. Tate. I’m not sure of the specifics of the others rotation, whether due to injury or form. Unsurprisingly he was the one who dismissed Bradman most that series, 3 times. Once for his 334, and twice for single digit scores.

In fact, only 12 players played the entire series, only 3 Englishmen (Hobbs, Hammond and Tate)
