Lancashire batted first and put on another impressive batting display, racking up 335/4 led by a magnificent century from ex Victorian youth player S.Stanton and a brutal 91 from veteran allrounder K.Harvey. Captain M.Hayden also picked up a half century with 56no.
All of the home bowlers struggled with ex Lancastrian champion speedster S.Harwood being the most economical, but remaining wicketless with 10-1-53-0.
Victoria got off to a disastrous start losing opener Q.Carver without a run on the board and slumping further to 63/3. Not even a wonderful unbeaten 122no from ex Lancastrian O.Beasley was able to get Victoria close as wickets fell regularly at the other end. 283/7 would under most circumstances be an impressive total, but in this match it saw Victoria fall 52 runs short of the visitors.

Somerset crushed Northern Districts to renew hope of promotion in One Day Division 5.

Despite only taking 4 wickets, Somerset bowled well, in particular the unlucky Prasad who bowled 10 overs for 26 runs. ND made just over 210...

In reply Somerset did it easy...Rayadu was superb again with a 76 not out to add to his not out innings two weeks ago...Zaman was also impressive in his first good knock...

TN managed to move into joint first place in One Day Division 2. After posting a strong total of 3-284 shades of the last match against Queensland came into consideration. However a top bowling bowling performance ensured a crushing victory for the visitors, with Warickshire being bundled out for a meagre 117. Sharkey taking 5.

Cole leads Guyana out of week of horror

Guyana put their Season Five campaign back on track with an encouraging win over Western Province in South Africa yesterday. Western Province wont the toss and elected to bat on a beautiful wicket that was tailor made for the batsman. However, nobody told Guyana's opening bowlers that it was a batsman's wicket. Both bowlers picked up early wickets to have WP at 2-1. Except for Darden, there were no major contributions from any of the WP batsman, while Rickman, Friend and Harkness all made valuble contributions WP were always going to be a little short with a total of 9-246 off their 50 overs. Swanton was the main destroyer for Guyana taking 3-40 and putting in his most impressive performance of the season, Lawson also bowled superbly for 2-16 off seven overs.

Sarwan was the only Guyanan batsman to fail in reply to WP's 246 as Guyana easily brought up victory in the 41st over. Cole was the mainstay of the batting line-up. He was promoted to number four in the batting line-up, after captain Martin Love selflessly, gave up the position. Solid contributions from Ardley, Francis and Jenkins all helped Guyana overhaul the total all scoring at a comfortable rate. Afridi was the only WP bowler to give Guyana any trouble taking 3-47 off seven overs.

Guyana cement their spot on top of the division five table after the win, ahead on run-rate with Glamorgan.

Tassie pushes the tempo!!!

After bowlers Canning and Dearman ripped thru Jamaica to dismiss them for 200 after 35 overs The Tassie batsmen were told to slog slog slog OH boy and did they ever only 4 batsmen were used and tassie won there 2nd match this season by 8 wickets and scoring then runs in 29overs.

Free State vs Canterbury

Free State decided to bat first on a nice looking batting wicket. They were rewarded with the openers putting on 198 for the first wicket. The captain Williams was promoted to opener in an effort to get some runs from him, and it sure worked. He managed a steady 134 from 159 balls, while at the other end D Arendse was compiling a well made 80 from 101 balls. It was a perfect start. When Arendse got in a mix up and consequently run out, it brought newly signed Z Court to the crease, he fired up and hit a quick 42 from 40 balls in an effort to increase the run rate. Williams fell on the last ball of the game going for a pull shot outside off, ended up skying it to Fernando off the bowling of Ezard. 2/259 from our 50. Solid, but with wickets in hand I feel we could of put the power down a bit more.

Williams called an interesting move, throwing the new ball to J Hamblin and C Tremlett, both solid medium pacers. The move didnt work out however, none of them getting the early breakthrough. Hazare, fresh off the back of a Team of the Week selection last 1D round had something to prove as our 1st change bowler, he immediatly picked up the 2 openers, Sinclair and Chopra. Hamblin returned to clean up 2 very important wickets in Gayle and Chanderpaul. Hazare and All-rounder Halse finished off the tail, leaving Hazare with some fine figures of 5/23 from 9 overs. Canterbury all out for 191. Brilliant for our chances of promotion. However news came through that Auckland made easy work of Hampshire, meaning we would still be 1 game behind the undefeated Auckland. But we have opened a comfortable margin on 3rd place, which is good news.

Colts back in the winners circle
Colts batsmen finally fired to power their side to a huge win over Queensland in round 5. Madanagopal provided the backbone of the innings scoring an impressive 114*. Anderson (43) and Ronchi (79) provided strong support with Shaw chipping in 25 from 20 near the close of the innings to boost the score to 5/315.

The Queensland innings started off disasterously with a run out first ball ad never got much better with Hawkins (3/34), Raza (3/12) and Shaw (2/40) ripping the batting lineup to shreads.

Colts manager age_master was pleased with the results after the match saying "This has got to be the start of better things for the club, our performance has been poor for large parts of this season and if we are to have any chance of avoiding relegation we really need to start firing now."

nsw put in a fine performance to jump to equal first in the div 1 table. putting on a massive 330+ nsw then bolwed ok to win. a positive note was g jones was promoted to open and capitalised with a 100.

Karnataka lost to New South Wales after a dismal bowling performance which left them stranded chasing 371. Khalid Ali, the worst culprit after bowling 10 overs for 86, said after the match that "I've never bowled so badly in my life". The batting was an upside though, scoring 290 despite the loss of eight wickets.
