But Lara, had that extra gear, not to add was touched by genuine genius.

Hutton just, more flawless record and opener's boost.
Watching Marnus bat, and reminded of an article I read about Sir Leonard. Think it went something along the line of merely scored or did well vs bowlers he should have dominated.
Part of the genius of Lara was deliveries that normal mortals would defend, he seemed like he had multiple options of where to place.

Could dig in to survive or accelerate the innings as required or just decide to dominate.

Tbf, I think it's a lot more respectable than a number 3 like Marnus who can't make strokes, a lot of the times opening in England is pretty much the equivalent of standing in front of a storm.

True. The 50's in England must have been a challenge.

He just lacked that extra gear though.
