Imagine being Kyle Jamieson. You're very tall. India hates you. The crowd wants you to fail. Everyone is waiting for their opportunity to smugly say "green top bully" , "too slow #copyrightpakpassion" , "one dimensional" , "not even good" , "Jammyson".

You need a new ball for this tour, or a new plan. Do you go for reverse swing? Make the inswinging yorker now a vicious outswinger?

Maybe you trust line and length? Bowl in your corridor, looking for the extra bounce even on these pitches with your height.

Or do you learn the three quarter ball or an off cutter? Something that turns big like an off break.

I don't expect him to carry on memeing but I hope he can learn from what will be a difficult tour for a young paceman.

Depends entirely whether he can reverse it. The new ball goes out of the game after like 6-8 overs. Can he bowl round arm? Can he bowler quicker than he is right now? Otherwise will have to contribute with the bat to make up for bowling.

Since when does hitting ultra consistent lengths from 6'9 at high 130s ever not work? In any part of the world?

Will he average 14? Probably not, especially not on his first tour.

But the guy has developed a remarkable control over the ball and swing it both ways. He's added 10km to his pace. So even if his first tour isn't a roaring success, I think we've seen enough to suggest he's capable of adapting.

He won't. I was joking. However, he will be comfortably less effective in India for two reasons: difficult conditions and the fact India play differently at home - they are much more confident at home.

Our batting has not been great in the recent series against England either. As long as he can adapt, he will be fine. Whether people will also adapt what their expectations from him in these conditions should be, is another story.

Well considering a short, greyhaired, soft 38 year-old notoriously home track bully version of big Kyle averaged 15.87 in India earlier this year, I think Jamieson will be fine.

On a serious note he, or us for that matter, needs to look at fast bowlers who did well in India in recent times to try and replicate their success. McGrath, Gillespie, Steyn and for a lesser extent Anderson and Southee stand out to me and they did succeed on their on methods

Anderson got a ton of reverse swing in India for that chennai spell. Good fast bowlers are always in the game in India due to the reverse swing.
