Rahane is in the mix. Though I'm not sure he had the temperament to average significantly more in a flatter set of tests.Few more prominent examples are B Watling , Johnny Bairstow , Ben stokes , ravi Jadeja .

that's actually quite a good analogy, he's better than Rahul imo but Lamb's problem was the lack of consistency, he made 6 hundreds against West Indies but only 2 fifties, even tho he made 6 centuries his average against West Indies is 34, a huge consistency problem. If he succeeded against the best bolwers, then how did he averaged below 40?
Is he similar to kl Rahul ? Who can score hundreds against Top Bowlers in some extreme pitches yet very inconsistent overall.
While not as good a player, I think one of Lamb's problems was similar to the Mark Waugh case. 14 Test tons yet none of them finished as scores of 150+. He was also dismissed in 11 of them. That's why he averaged 36 instead of 40. His series v WI in 1984 was a good example. 3 hundreds but hardly any runs combined after crossing three digits.that's actually quite a good analogy, he's better than Rahul imo but Lamb's problem was the lack of consistency, he made 6 hundreds against West Indies but only 2 fifties, even tho he made 6 centuries his average against West Indies is 34, a huge consistency problem.
Yeah, lack of big hundreds, high ceiling but like many English bats of the era, didn't reach his full potential. While not as good a player, I think one of Lamb's problems was similar to the Mark Waugh case. 14 Test tons yet none of them finished as scores of 150+.
