Ishant definitely did well in that period but those are what 16 games? Remove 2 games from that in the WI and the average jumps to 23.36 with a WPM of 3.5. So still pretty good but not nearly Bumrah level.Since the debut of bumrah, Ishant Sharma also performed exceptionally .

Shami in Eng underperformed massively .Kapil has a slightly better match factor as Shami (1.09 vs 1.05). He was the leader of the pace attack, and bowled around 6-7 more overs per game than Shami had to. Also has much more longevity, greater fitness.
Kapil ahead for me.
Why does he want to talk about England specifically?View attachment 46664Just shaw a tweet regarding these 2
That must mean his record everywhere else was ass though, no?Kapil Dev
* Played for much longer time
* Legacy - First proper fast bowler from India in 5 decades
* He was a lone wolf
* His record in WI was very good
1st series : 17 wickets @ 24
2nd series : 18 wickets @ 21 with 2 5-Fers
* His record in Aus was just as good
1st series : 14 wickets @ 23 with 2 5-Fers
2nd series : 12 wickets @ 23
3rd series : 25 wickets @ 25
Against the best team of his generation and arguably the greatest team ever; Kapil Dev took 89 wickets at an average of 24.90.
May be because he was a Swing bowler and Eng is the best place for swing bolwers. Why does he want to talk about England specifically?
The best team of that era was the legendary WestIndies team and Kapil averages 24.9.
Kinda a **** comparison, especially since Shami is mid in England as well.May be because he was a Swing bowler and Eng is the best place for swing bolwers.
Who is this Ramaraj?Kinda a **** comparison, especially since Shami is mid in England as well.
Might be controversial, but Kapil's away record is overhated. The only place he flopped completely is NZ. Great in WI and Australia, good in England (as an all-rounder, not a bowler. As a bowler his English record is poorish, but he makes up with his batting. Dude has 3 MoTM and a MoS there, helping India in a Series win), fine in Pakistan (bowling is actually good, underperformed with the bat) and a Great century in 3 games in SA. Not pretty numbers, but deep dive and it's a perfectly good away record.Who is this Ramaraj?
Seems like he just discovered his cricinfo stats and decided to tweet about it.

Kapil wasn’t a great bowler. That must mean his record everywhere else was ass though, no?
32 avg in Australia, mostly in the highway era, is bad!!???Shami’s record also isn’t that impressive.
Avg of 40 in England.
Avg of 32 in Australia.
