OK here goes the stats crunching.

Kallis' by countries he played

Kallis' home matches against each opposition

Sanga's by countries he played

Sanga's home matches against each opposition

Observations
1. Sanga Averages less than 40 in ENG (30.5), SAF (39.5), WI (34) and IND (36.5). He averages more than 30 every where.
2. Kallis averages less than 40 in BAN (31.5). ENG (29.3) and SL (35.3)
3. At home Kallis is poor against SL (32.1) and AUS (34.3)
4. At home Sanga is poor against AUS (30.5)

Now this will give a better understanding how these two have performed.

Kallis has only played 3 innings in Bangladesh. Safe to disregard that.

Sanga definitely has the class but on the whole body of work I'd put Kallis ahead by a decent margin.

very close nothing between them imo, both have also sneaked up on Ponting atleast on subjective ratings scale.

Hope Sanga gets his 1st hundred in SA in December, playing there after 9 years...

And Kallis will unleash a minnow bashing on our "bowlers" to fix his stats:ph34r:

Ya, if he can improve his average against SAF would be nice. He and Mathews hold the key for SAF test matches. We need about 2 - 3 centuries from each of them at least to draw the matches.

Seems fitting that Kallis's name is a near homophone for a word that describes a patch of hard skin one usually acquires through repetitious hard work.

Sanga makes it look much easier.

Hard to say as I don't see a lot of them really.

Sanga to watch by miles.
Kallis to score against any attack.
Sanga to score a big hundred.

Sanga overall by a smidge. Partly because he shouldn't only have 1/3 the votes of Kallis. Not sure why he gets so little love on here as I reckon they are not that far apart if at all.

Sangakkara really used to annoy me.....he was always a whiny little arse behind the stumps....but over the last few years I have mellowed somewhat towards him.

I do like Zhark Kallis though, he has been awesome for the Saffers, especially when he was on top bowling form.

It's a close one for me now, but I will pick Kallis over Sangga.
