Longevity is the most overrated aspect of a bowler’s resume. You hope some bowlers have long careers because you know if that’s the best they’ve got you won’t have any problems.

Agreed but in Anderson case it is genuinely impressive that England could benefit for an extra 4-6 years from a quality pacer than they would with a typical pacer.

I think that there is more than 1 way to define better. I'd much rather have a bowler like Akhtar or Bond in my team for a single game. I'd much rather have Anderson for a career.

not that I said he didn’t, but we were talking longevity, not skill and it’s not as if Anderson’s presence is going to put the scare in you like many better bowlers who had shorter careers.
