International Captain
Due to be released on the 6th June.

Looks the same game as usual but here's the list of features

Cricket Captain 2024 releases on Steam on June 6th. iOS, Android and Mac will release the week after that. We're aiming for Switch to release in July.

There are also PlayStation and Xbox versions in development for release later in the year.

Build your own dream team in Cricket Captain 2024. The 20 Over World Cup takes centre stage at the start of the 2024 season and, with our Score Predictor making its debut, you can manage run chases and set targets with a clear indication of expectations for the match conditions. With feedback from last year’s game, and simulating thousands of matches from every situation, we have rebalanced scoring rates across the board, with focus on both First Class and limited over scoring rates and AI. Daniel Norcross brings his inimitable style to the commentary box this year, for the first time on Cricket Captain.

Cricket Captain 2024 expands our database once again, including honours boards showing every international century and five-wicket hall across all formats at every ground. With improved filters and viewing options for the vast array of statistics accessible through the game, picking your squads and accessing records is more intuitive and responsive.

All domestic systems have been updated to include the latest developments in Pakistan, West Indies and around the world.

Key features for 2024 include:
- Commentary: new commentary from Daniel Norcross.
- Score Predictor: in-match score and win predictor.
- Honours Boards: every international 5 wicket haul or century, in all 3 match types.
- Match Engine: improved following user feedback and simulations.
- Updated International Team Rankings: calculated from last 4 years results.
- New Kits: updated international kits.
- International Player Rankings: updated with historical data.
- Asia Trophy: play in ODI and 20 Over International tournaments.
- Updated Pakistan Domestic System: Eight new teams.
- Domestic System Updates: all systems updated to latest rules and formats.
- Improved Player Generation: rebalanced with focus on player aggression.
- Test Championship: updated for the 2024 season.
- Tournament Modes: play in stand-alone One Day, Asia Trophy or 20 Over World Cups. Create your own World XIs, All-Time Great and Custom Match Series.
- Phone Interface: improved screen layout with filters visible on stats screens.

Yeah, I'm still playing ICC 2016, which at least had some user-made player and fixtures editors. Haven't seen any real reason to buy any subsequent versions.

It's a very tired format these days. It's essentially exactly the same game as it was literally 25 years ago. The whole thing could do with a significant revamp. The devs should take inspiration from Out of the Park Baseball.
Is that any good?

I bought the the 2023 (I think) version for Switch, because I cbf getting my laptop out to play the last version I got (2016 as well maybe??). At this stage I'd wonder how many purchases are out of laziness as opposed to excitement.

Cricketcoach in 2014 is still a better game. ICC is ok but not worth the money and Chris Child has always said that money issues are the reason he can't change the game too much. But why they haven't added an Editor is mad

Cricket Coach is long overdue a new game. I don't think this will happen now

Cricket Coach is better in a lot of ways, but it also has major faults/limitations (again particularly in respect of the match engine). If you combined the two games/series you'd likely have something really quite fun.

I remember sinking quite a few ours into Cricket Captain, really trying to like it but just never got there with it.

My main gripe with ICC is that T20s and OD matches are baffling. Doesn't matter what aggression setting you use, doesn't seem to really help or work

I played a lot of ICC3 back when I was in university (and was quite involved in the modding scene), but with each subsequent version played less and less.

honestly, the trick with limited overs is you need to play it ball by ball. go harder in the early part of the over. if you hit a boundary early on, reign in your aggression. also target inferior bowlers.

if you just play over by over you'll likely collapse a lot.

I mean, fair, but not what I like the game for. Ball by ball play in ICC is my least favourite way to play tbh. May as well just play cricket 19 and be part of the action properly.

Doesn't make any sense in actual cricket though.

the match engine may be ok for tests but it sucks for white ball matches. odis are all about strike rotation and yet you have dot balls and boundaries predominate in the game
