Indian cricket and 12 year cycles

ma1978

International Debutant
Indian cricket operates in 10-12 year cycles

1966 to 1978 was the era of the spin quarter

1979 to 1990of Vengsarkar, Dev, Amarnath, Shastri

1991 to 2000 was the Azbaurddin era of him dominance

2000 to 2011 was the era of batting dominance

2012 to today, the Kohli / Aswin era

it’s over. One yuga has ended, another will start.

what’s the come.

my predictions.

- there will be twohard years of transition. It won’t be as fast as the last time. This will get to crisis level.

-Bumrah has four to fiveyears to ago and will emerge as the leader of this group along with Pant

- Pant will eventually captain the team and will r will see a new gear in the guy

-we haven’t seen the next bowling or batting generation but there’s a lot of Ranji talent

- Gambhir will be gone fast. You will see a Dravid / Laxman regime

The sooner Rohit and Kohli move on from Tests, the better. Until then there is no transition. Selectors and BCCI have to take a tough stance. Rohit came out and had his PR interview to safeguard his interests and kinda challenged the hierarchy. 'I am still the captain and I haven't played my last test'

To be honest, it would be really good for Indian cricket if India were to bow out in Round 1 of Champions Trophy with Rohit and co failing miserably. That could be enough to have Rohit and Gambhir sacked along with 1-2 others. It would absolutely accelerate the transition. On the other hand, if India does well in CT, the superstars would have more power again and would decide their own fate.

Do people, even in India, really care about the Champions trophy that much

Yeah. This is weird. This is such a **** trophy. It's like the fosters lager of cricket cups. Surely you only give a **** because you are butthurt at not being able to raise the real cup.

The fact that India is playing in UAE, which has historically been a bogey nation to play in for Indian cricket, means that there's a good chance that both Pakistan and NZ could beat India in the group stages to knock India/Rohit/Gambhir/Kohli out for good.

Pakistan has vastly more experience playing in Dubai and NZ too has more experience. And if Bumrah is unavailable, no one can save Rohit & Gambhir from the axe.

It's not just about CT. Indian cricket has been losing for last few months and if Gambhir fails in limited overs as well, then he is done.

Media is saying
1. Lost ODI series in SL after many years
2. Whitewash at home first time in history
3. Lost BGT after a decade
and if you add CT to the list, it'll be enough to finish Rohit & Gambhir.

Pakistan has been quietly building up to the CT with some impressive performances. They could advance at the expense of India and then win the thing.

Wont be shocked if we win whole champions trophy thing. We are strong loi team might do well but it is in best interest of indian team that bow out of tournament early
