Ok, an early review of my prognostications:
Result: 3-0 India. Root and Stokes will go big in one game which will end up a high scoring draw.
Obviously gone already, although maybe partial credit for the Root and Stokes call?
Going 2-1 India now.
Most Runs: Pujara.
Root would seem to be the racing favourite now, but keeping the faith for the moment.
Most Wickets :
Ashwin
Looking a solid, if safe, shout from the vantage of one completed test.
Biggest Surprise Player: Bess
5 wickets, useful runs in both innings (if somewhat more slowly scored in the second dig for the taste of some), not looking an outrageous call thus far.
Biggest Failure: Archer
Began and finished the 20 Indian wickets to fall but not a lot in between, batting continues to amuse and horrify, however others have had worse tests. Rahane maybe the early front runner.
Injuries: Maybe not an injury as such, but Leach's Crohn's and Indian cuisine could be fun.
Jack's aris stood up surprisingly well under the assault from Pant, but a dodgy ruby could still be problematic.
Dropped: Burns and/or Sibley
Burns probably needs runs in the second with Crawley and Bairstow likely available for the second half of the series, but think Nadeem and Lawrence in more immediate danger. Jimmeh being rested for the next test doesn't count, obvz.
Random Stat: At least one of England's 7-11 to get a 50 in each test.
Another that's already crapped out. Changing to Root to be England's second highest test run scorer after the 4th test. Think he needs ~500 runs in three tests.
