You can add an avatar url(of an image of ur choice) to your profile page, be sure to put in the whole address.

As Gotchya said. And it will only appear when you get 25 points. It's a "carrot" to get people to post more often...

Ahh, looks like I may need to post an announcement. I removed the 25 post required status for an avatar about a month ago now.

As Gotchya said go into your "Profile" and enter a full url into the "Avatar Url" textbox.
