If anybody cares, it's began in Sharjah with UAE on top aaginst Nepal.

Ali Asad (who is from Pakistan) took 9-74 against Nepal. Arshad Ali top scored with 143 for UAE who declared at 293-9.

Yup. IMO a good idea, gives First-Class cricket to nations which don't normally play it without making them play in domestic competitions.

Teams are: UAE, Nepal, Malaysia (from Asia), USA, Canada, Bermuda (from America), Scotland, Holland, Ireland (from Europe), Kenya, Namibia, Uganda (from Africa).

Of course, it has to be funded a bit...probably the reason why they're playing 3-day matches only, and also why they play zones.

Match ended in a draw btw.

UAE 293/9d (Arshad Ali 143, Khuram Khan 75 - Das 5/61, Alam 3/26) & 253/6d (Fahad Usman 102* - Khadka 2/17) drew Nepal 213 (Khadka 67 - Ali Asad 9/74) & 141/5 (Vesawkar 50* - Ali Asad 4/52).

Basically, all the game proved is that UAE have a problem if Ali Asad goes away, and that 3-day matches is gonna end in draws half the time . Ali Asad's born in Lahore btw.

Well, there's the European Championship in the Netherlands this coming European summer. And Norway have played some games against pretty poor opposition (ICC Affiliates such as Austria, Portugal and Malta) and gone 14-0, thus qualifying themselves for the 2nd division of the European Championships - together with France, Gibraltar, Germany, Israel and Italy.

However, to really take the step up Norway have to become an Associate nation, with a U-17 league and devoted cricket pitches - somehow I don't think that's gonna happen

Long dark winters, possibly a short growing season.
On the other hand, no problem with it getting dark at 6.30 pm in summer - and of course plenty of fish meal fertiliser for the grass.

Sure, Norway isn't that heavily populated. Just donate a couple of hundred thousand pounds to the Norwegian cricket board, as the Norwegian government is barely aware that the sport exists. Also, cricket has to compete with areas for football, too.
