as a batsmen Amla, not a huge gap but a clear one.

think Cook might have a more memorable and better career though. Amla somehow went out even sadder than Cook which is an achievement

That punch off the Backfoot and wristy flicks a delight to watch.

Garner v Waqar poll was closer than this and you're not convincing me this is a bigger mismatch etc
His point is that the number of people who think Amla is better than Cook doesn't tell you anything about the degree to which they think Amla is better than Cook.

If people thought Amla is only worth 1 more run every 100 innings, but everyone agreed on that idea, Amla would win the poll unanimously even though people think they're extremely close.

It's also possible for the poll to be close even though no one thinks it's actually close, they just disagree.

Yeah I know, I was mostly poking fun at the other poll, thought the etc would give it away.
