Tendulkar and Ganguly.........check the stats..
Ok i will :) . I am assuming you are talking about ODI's, so:

Leading ODI opening pairs:
1. Sehwag/Tendulkar (Ind) 1393 runs @ avg. 66.33 7x100 5x50
2. Jadeja/Tendulkar (Ind) 1315@59.77 5x100 7x50
3. Gilchrist/Hayden (Aus) 2811@53.03 10x100 12x50
4. Haynes/Greenidge (WI) 5150@52.55 15x100 24x50
5. Ganguly/Tendulkar (Ind) 5621@49.30 16x100 21x50

(Minimum Qualification: 1000 runs)

In terms of number of runs, Ganguly/Tendulkar are up the top; in terms of averages Haynes/Greenidge and Gilchrist/Hayden are slightly ahead.

wow! I didnt know Tendulkar-Sehwag were ahead of Tendulkar-Ganguly in terms of average!

In ODIs I prefer Sehwag/Tendulkar opening. Opening is the perfect spot for Sehwag, and well Tendulkar is Tendulkar. I have always thought that Ganguly would best be suited coming in at 4 in ODIs after Laxman, I hope that's the way things work in the finals when Tendulkar and Sehwag return.

I agree

I reckon Jayasuria & Kalu deserve a mention in the ODI category.

I'm suprised you all speak of Gilchrist and Hayden as a top opening pair - IMO, Gilchrist and Mark Waugh were far, far superior.

What's wrong, Andre? This week is turning out to be most disappointing, what with all the agreeances. Gilchrist/Waugh were miles ahead of Gilchrist/Hayden. The only time Gilly and Waugh looked like they were human was when the rotation policy came in and they found themselves in a bit of a triangle. Before that though, Gilly and Waugh eclipsed everyone.

And when you consider quite how much more the One Day game has turned to help batsmen, that record from Haynes and Greenidge becomes all the more impressive.
