Goodbye RT Ponting 'the ODI player' - you were a legend.

Time has been called on his ODI career, what a champion. Went out winning his very last match, and as captain.

Well... he hasn't quit yet. He may just pull a Ganguly and say "nah **** off, I'll be back"

Compilation video, every run of Ricky Pontings ODI career needed.

Either that or everyone of his 100s.
The ECB to be ****s and take the video down because it features a run he scored in the 2005 NatWest bank series

Wow. I always thought he would make the call on this himself before being forced out. Regardless, what a champion career he has had in the format. Complete legend.

Goodbye Ricky, the ODI game would be poorer without you :( guess its time for SRT's ODI career as well

I think Ponting should retire from tests as well. He is a brilliant player but if Oz want to have a realistic chance at the Ashes 2013, they need a younger player who is established by then. It would be unfair to a new player to have his first chance in the big series and unless Ponting backs himself (and selectors agree) to be an important contributor, he is better off retiring now rather than later,

I think the Indian selectors should take a cue from Inverarity and drop Tendulkar if he dosen't retire on his own after the CB Series. Giving him the choice to pick and choose ODIs is giving the message that he is bigger than the game itself which is a shame. The best time to retire from ODIs for Tendulkar was when India won the World Cup last year. Its is embarrasing for me as a passionate cricket fan to see him fail miserably each time he comes out to bat. He won't retire on his own as he is after that bloody 100 centuries personal milestone rather than playing for the country.

I was stunned to hear the news, but it seems to me that it was fitting that he captain Australia to a drubbing of India in his final ever ODI. It seems so strange that we won't see him in the pyjamas again.

Legend.
