Just looked into it (had heard of the series before from my father) and Sourav won 4 MoTM among 5 and had chimed in atleast 2 wickets in all 4...... That's pretty impressive. But on point, Sachin was just way more versatile and skillful and had so many important spells. My father actually believes he could have been a Sobersesque proper all-rounder had he taken bowling seriously enough.

That was an extraordinary series for Ganguly. He could just do no wrong. Was the highest run scorer as well as wicket taker in the series. Averaged 55 with the bat and 10 with the ball. I don't think anyone has ever had such an all round series in ODI cricket ever (although series wise records are less comparable in ODIs than in tests)

And your father is right. Sachin could have easily been a better bowler than Harbhajan Singh.

Sobers wasn't very good with 2 of his 3 types of deliveries. If we only talk about skills, Sachin was easily a (way) better off spinner and leg spinner.

Sober was very capable Test class seam and wrist spin. Only was part time level in finger spin.
