LOL never mind kyle after all atleast you broke a record :) jks

Anyway Karachi won their 8th straight 4day match with a blistering spell from B Mathie (8 for 73). The great bowling by the team was especially important because M. Sami only took 2 wickets suggesting that we have plenty of depth in out team. The batting was once again great to see with veteran Dharmana scoring 132 to go with half tons by allrounders Kaye and Silva. In the second dig Kaye took a 5for to complete a massive game by the youngster. Solid batting by J. Cooke put the game out of reach for Auckland as we won comfortably by 4 wickets.

Somerset posted an uplifting round 8 4D win over Canterbury. With more then a little to play for, Somerset made a great fightback before winning with 4 wickets in hand. And with ACT dramatically losing to last place WA and NSW only managing a draw with Worcs, Somerset now have a realistic shot at automatic promotion; provided they beat ACT in their next game.

Batting first on a wicket that at a glance had all the makings of batters paradise, Canterbury soon found out it was not so easy. The criminally underated B Collyer was the destroyer-in-chief, taking 6 marvellous wickets....ok was going to do full report, im already bored...(Canterbury made 284)

So next somerset batted...made 246 (Youhana 78*)

Then Canterbury again...they screwed up with Maqbool and Dhamika superb and taking 4 apeice...(A/O for 209)

Then Somerset chased down the 249 with 4 wickets to spare...O Fry made 80*

Tamil Nadu made it 8 from 8 in another inspiring performance. Playing at home to Lancashire, Tamil Nadu once again started shakily after being behind by 29 after each of the teams first innings'. Another brilliant 3rd batting display of 367 AO put TN back into the box seat, after the lower order fired. With Parida making 99 and Beasley making 54 off just 57 balls. Lancashire simply couldn't hit the necessary runs on the fourth day pitch and Kumble, Porter and Beasley ran through their batting line up for the score of 218.

TN won by 120 runs and have just about wrapped up the title. The next aim is to stay undefeated for the whole season in 4D and avoid relegation in OD.

I was on my way to victory in the 4th innings but my batsman didn't show much urgency and I came up 56 runs short with 5 wickets in hand. My first draw of the season, don't know what to say really.

Leicestershire nudge out eager Mashonaland

Mashonaland and Leicestershire faced off in an intense game that saw Leicestershire just make it home in front of their home crowd. There was no doubt in any of the Zimbabwean players' mind that this game, and all coming games, are vital to ensuring Mashonaland stays clear of relegation. Having won the toss and elected to bat, Mashonaland captain V Waragoda was obviously confident his team could notch up a big score in the first innings.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way for the visitors. They started well, with Eaton, promoted to opener, taking 13 off his first 12 balls before getting too carried away and allowing himself to be bowled by Gallage. Ul-Haq and Waragoda hung on to try and build a partnership until Adams knocked over Ul-Haq's middle stump with a beautiful yorker, with the score on 75. Waragoda soon followed with 28 while Burns desperately tried to hang around while wickets dropped like flies all around him thanks to some explosive bowling from Adams (5/59) and Gallage (4/39). But Burns could do nothing as the batsmen 5 through 10 all fell for sub-10 scores, although number 11 Khan put up some resistance with a gallant 19*, but it wasn't enough to stop Mashonaland from slumping to 153.

The Leics batsmen came out eager for runs, spurred on by the annihalation of the Mashonaland middle order. A good start was made by Brindell and Brown (20) until all-rounder Rogers clipped Brown's leg stump with a wonderful legbreak. Brindell took time to play himself in, his 88 coming off 159 balls, but other batsman failed to do so, with Rogers soon managing to have Kingsley caught behind before opener Khan came back on and had Wilkes and McKenzie on their way back to the dressing room. Mushtaq also snared to quick wickets, with opener Brindell finally losing frustration and holing out, and Underwood going for an equally senseless slog and getting stumped. Soon the score was 7/167, and Mashonaland had a good chance of only having to be a few runs behind in the second innings. This was not the case, however, as keeper Manjrekar (57) and bowler Adams (48), fresh from his five-four, put on a 96 run partnership which only ended thanks to some vicious bouncers from Khan, who ended up with a five-four as Leics scored 296, putting them a commanding 143 runs in front.

All season long, the Mashonaland manager Andyc had been searching for two openers who could put on a decent opening stand to begin the innings well. Having promoted Ul-Haq and Eaton to open, he finally got his wish as Eaton (62) and Ul-Haq (78) played vital knocks to give their team every chance of winning. By the time the partnership was broken as Wilkes had Ul-Haq caught behind, Mashonaland had edged four runs in front. Waragoda soon also fell to Wilkes and Gallage had Eaton trapped in front, leaving Mashonaland on 3/161. Burns and Malik, desperate to rectify themselves after their first-innings failure, put on a ninety run partnership, with Malik's 132 ball 56 playing second fiddle to Burns' 47 ball 43. Arnold and Rogers both combined with Malik for twenties following Burns' dismissal, and then 'keeper Carver (54*) hit his third half-century of the season, finding little help from the tail until Khan again played well for 17. Gallage (4/77) and Priyardarshana (3/117) were the pick of a sub-standard bowling effort as 43 extras were recorded, bringing the visitors to 418, a lead of 275.

Needing quick wickets, Khan backed up his recent top performances in the second innings as he induced an outside edge from Brown with the score on only 11. Kingsley and Brindell both played well for valuable runs until Saqlain Mushtaq had Brindell caught in the slips while Khan polished off Kingsley soon after. The score was 3/120, and despite resistance from Wilkes (40), the spinners Mushtaq and Barnwell made short work of the middle order. By 7/216, with 60 runs needed, the game was evenly poised. Adams (36*) played an excellent innings with Manjrekar for the 7th wicket partnership, which was eventually broken on 259. Leicestershire eventually made it home with two wickets to spare, an agonising loss for the visitors, exacerbated by ND's shock thrashing of Guyana.

Manager Andyc was looking very forlorn after the match as he said, "This doesn't mean that Mashonaland are just going to settle with 5th place on the ladder. Mashonaland will just have to keep up the kind of performances we saw in the second innings for the rest of the season. 4th place isn't that far away."

Mashonaland 153
Ul-Haq 39, Waragoda 28, Burns 20
Adams 5/59, Gallage 4/39

Leicestershire 296
Brindell 88, Manjrekar 57, Adams 48
Khan 5/98, Rogers 2/37

Mashonaland 418
Ul-Haq 78, Eaton 62, Malik 56, Carver 54*
Gallage 4/77, Priyardarshana 3/117

Leicestershire 8/276
Kingsley 55, Brindell 42, Wilkes 40, Adams 36*
Mushtaq 3/69, Barnwell 2/44

Leicestershire win by two wickets

It was a good match. You beat us well but we took positives out of it. i.e. we didn't get a complete and total whupping. Most of our guys pulled their finger out except for a couple. Things are looking up at Yorkshire! :)

Tasmania v Glamorgan

Hundreds from skipper Goodwin and Symonds guided Tasmania to a vital victory over Glamorgan as the season comes to a close, but the injury to Rowell cast a shadow over the team's celebrations.

Goodwin won the toss and elected to field, hoping his team could make some inroads into Glamorgan's batting line-up, with the ball looking like it might do a bit early on. In the 4th over it did enough for Akram to find the edge of Head's bat and Rice took a good catch at slip. Glamorgan's scorecard was dominated by a majestic 160 by Andrew Strauss at the top of the order, but it also showed how many of the Glamorgan batsmen got starts and failed to continue, with 5 batsmen scoring 20s or 30s. Akram was the pick of the bowlers returning 3-44, Sharma took 3 wickets as well, costing 80 runs with Glamorgan totalling 325.

Tasmania's opening pair hoped to set the tone for the rest of the innings, sharing a partnership of 104, Midlane the dominant partner with Rowell scoring just 27. Rowell fended a short ball from Gordon into the hands of a diving Martin Jaarsveld at short leg, and in the next 3 balls Gordon took 2 more wickets as Charlton and Banks both edged the ball to Bucknall at 3rd slip, who made no mistake on both occasions. Midlane joined them in the pavillion in the next over when he was trapped Lbw by Gill. Goodwin and Symonds ground out a partnership of 56 to take them from 108-4 to 164-5. Sharma got himself a good foundation to what could have been a good innings had he been batting higher up, running out of partners of 21. Gordon ended up with figures of 3-47, with the 3 wickets all in the same over, and Fazil picked up 4 scalps, taking 4-49.

Glamorgan had a handy lead of 120, and were eager to put the game well beyond Tasmania's reach. This time the openers god them off to a solid start, sharing a partnership of 69 before Head was trapped Lbw by the out of form Hardwick. After Strauss and Van Jaarsveld took Glamorgan to 143 it was the Sammels show. He took 6 wickets with his chinamen in a devastating spell whcih brought fresh hope to the Australian outfit. Sharma, Tasmania's other top spinner took 3 wickets to finish off the innings.

Despite the fact that they had bowled Glamorgan out for 217, chasing down 338 would still be a difficult task for Tasmania, on a wearing pitch.Glamorgan took an early wicket, Rowell attempting a hook shot, but he was caught at fine leg, and executing the shot he tore his rotator cuff muscle. Midlane and Charlton then made steady progress until Charlton went. Midlane was to go shortly after, falling over onto his stumps after a wild attempted hook shot. With Banks stumped shortly after, Tasmania were in a poor positon, 88-4, with Symonds and Goodwin at the crease. Watchful at first, the 2 of them showed ther experience, playing some glorious shots as they both brought up their 50s. There was a scare when Goodwin was on 67, a mix up between the 2 of them and a direct hit from Andrew Strauss led to the 3rd umpire being called for, but the TV replays showed he was home by a few inches, and Graham Slater made the right decision. After that they didn't look back, both bringing up brilliant hundreds, consdering the situation. They were both dismissed by Cole at the very end, unable to wrap it up, by Sammels and Sharma were able to take care of the few runs needed.

Overall it was a good performance by Tasmania, and a place in the play offs is still a possibility, Murray Goodwin's team have lots of positives to take away to the next game.

Glamorgan: 325 all out Strauss 160, Akram 3-44
Tasmania: 205 all out Midlane 74, Fazil 4-49
Glamorgan 217 all out Strauss 67, Sammels 6-54
Tasmania 338-6 Goodwin 123 Symonds 109.

Yorkshire lost to Warwickshire by 4 wickets but took positives as some players performed after a disappointing season.
Habib repaid the managers faith in him after talks he'd be dropped in favour of an extra bowler by hitting 88 in combination with Tendulkar (40) for a 109 run partnership for the third wicket. Unfortunately they didn't go on and neither did anyone else and we were all out for 238. Our bowlers backed up the batting by getting Warwickshire all out for 277, with Kaye putting up a niggling defence of 96. Gough (3/79) and Weir (2/24) bowled tough against the top order and eventually reemoved Kaye and Sathish (65). Bhandari (2/66) and Nazir (3/41) skittled the tail for just 23 and it was our turn to bat.
Unfortunately the top four made just 97. Then Weir showed his awesome all-round ability by hitting 54 from 75. Hemp also made 54 while Simpson showed his class with an unbeaten 58. Even Gough chipped in with 37 as we made 320 all out.
We bowled, with a good chance of winning. But we couldn't get past Sathish who's 124 not out definitely won Warwickshire the match, despite some excellent bowling by Simpson.
