Four Day Round 7 Reports

International Captain
Warwickshire scored their second win in a row over Glamorgan winning by 9 wickets.

Batting first the Bears made 302. Rowell top scored with 79*. As always the case plenty of batsmen made starts but no one went on with the job.

Thanks to an inspirational spell of bowling from Ben Gregson Warwickshire took full control of the game. Glamorgan were rolled for 146. Gregson taking 7/22 (the best four day figures ever by a Warwickshire bowler in WCC).

Following on Glamorgan showed a bit more fight but they were clearly never in the game. All out for 210 with former Warwickshire player Hemanath Kumar making 79*. Hasnain picked up 5/31.

Warwickshire then knocked off the required runs losing only one wicket, with Astle insuring victory with a solid knock.

The win moves Warwickshire within 3 points of leaders Canterbury. The round 8 between these sides clash could potentially decide the title and by god, we have to win...

Somersets surprising 4D season has continued, with a win over Colts this week. The win shifts Somerset into 3rd place, and gives the team a rough chance of moving into the play-offs.:)

Province prove Invincible

Western Province moved one step closer to definate promotion with a dominating performance over Northern Districts.

After winning the toss and batting District began solidly seeing off the dangerous opening pair of Nelson and Matthie. Glenn McGrath then came on and straight away stamped his authority on the match getting Stephen Flemming out for 12. From then ND never really got any momentum as the part timers of Schofield and Samaraweera tore the hearts out've the middle order. Ishmael Nelson and Bishop Matthie then came on to clean up the tail with the second new ball and in doing so put Province in the box seat. Kumar Sangakarra was the best with the bat scoring 55 not.

The Province batting didn't look that impressive either with early wickets falling once again. Frankenstein Funston steadied the ship though with a quickfire 55. However with disciplined bowling from ND, the game was in the balance. Thilan Samaraweea then joined Rickman and the pair had a 100 run stand with Samaraweera scoring 61. The tail then played their part with the assistance of Hamish Nelson in boosting the score up to 287, a lead of 96.

ND were keen to bat themeselves back into the game, however the conditions were quickly detiriorating and it showed on the scorecard. None of the top order really stood up like was required with Fleming only offering resistance with 43, and it was then made easy for Nelson to clean the tail up taking 5-59.

Big Gus Aldridge made the 87 as hard as possible taking 3-29, but it was never going to be enough as Province got home by 6 wickets.

Slats4ever. "A good win, not spectacular but good enough. With the Colts result we now have a healthy lead and should get over the line from here"
