Flintoff was world class for about four years from 2003 to 2006, but effectively a mediocre bits and pieces player for the rest of his career.
2003-2006: 45 Tests, 2642 runs @ 38.28 with 4 centuries, 163 wickets @ 28.80 with 2 fifers
<2003 & >2006: 34 Tests, 1203 runs @ 23.13 with 1 century, 63 wickets @ 43.07 with 1 fifer
Pietersen was quality for pretty much his entire international career, so he takes it for me.
