Noffke Almost Gets Bulls Home
Ashley Noffke has yet again shown he is going to be the Bulls' dominant player with an excellent display. The bowling allrounder performed with both bat and ball to almost see Queensland win their first first class game of the season.
Matthew Hayden had no hesitation in batting on a flat deck and his top order responded reaching 2-158, however a middle order collapse saw the Bulls reduced to 6-228 before Hopes (81) and Noffke (114) combined for a 166 run partnership that would eventually see the Bulls reach 451. The pick of the Karachi bowlers was A Hussain who picked up 5-114 off 34 overs.
Karachi responded well with most batsman reaching significant scores. Bichel was the chief destroyer for the Bulls, his 29 overs yielded 3-112. H Raza was the pick of the Karachi batsmen with 81 with the next highest scorer S Kabir with 49.
Queensland started cautiously in their second innings, making sure they didn't lose early wickets and not have a score to defend in the final innings. The lowest score amongst the top five batsmen was Love with 37 and Jenkins made his first significant contribution in Bulls' colours with a fine made 53 not out. Hayden eventually declared when the Bulls had reached 6-281.
Karachi were never troubled in the final innings, but were not able to score quick enough to get close to the Bulls' target in enough time. Noffke ensured that Karachi would not win the game with another fine bowling performance, his 4-93 made sure that Karachi would always be on the back foot.
