Fairly frequent downtime - any possible solutions?

Dunno if I'm the only one, but I find cricketweb to be down or inaccessible reasonably often. Sometimes it's only for half an hour or so, sometimes it's for hours on end. It's actually not uncommon at all for me to try and read a post (or submit one) and find the site's down for a couple of minutes or so. I don't seem to have similar problems for anywhere else I visit.

Anyhow, it seems like the current server sucks a tad - maybe the traffic for the site these days is too much for the current provider...

I had the idea that perhaps James could set up a Paypal account in order to accept donations - I'd be happy to throw $20 or so in, and maybe at some stage not too distant it'll be possible to change to a more reliable webhost. Perhaps you could introduce incentives for people to donate, ie, custom user titles, slightly larger avatars, or something configurable, I dunno.

Just an idea I had, anyway. :)

You with Bigpond? Because I have those problems, but can access CW through another server.. Ie. Anonymous proxy..

The problem's with Bigpond not CW.. It could even be a Melbourne thing, who knows..

Btw, Paypal thing's a good idea.. Especially if it improves the CW service..

Nah, I'm with Internode. And I'm sure I've seen other folks complain about access here and there, and there still seems to be an unacceptable amount of dowtime in the context of today's 99.9% uptime guarantees, etc.

Generally when it's down though, the first thing I do is go to proxify.com. But in the times I can't access from there either, I'd assumed the problem was more from this end than mine...

Cricket Web has been up and down the past fortnight, but before that we had virtually no downtime in a few months so I hope the uptime will pick up again now.

If you experience any downtime what helps me is posting in the downtime forum.
