Huge chance for him to have a stay of execution and he plays an expansive cut shot in the over leading up to lunch. Very disappointing, as he displays the kind of technique that is fantastic to watch. His timing off his legs and in his drives is glorious and you can imagine in the nets (where you can't really be out unless your bowled) he looks an absolute world beater. But its performances and results in the middle and currently he is letting himself down and if he plays in the second Test he may well count himself a lucky boy.

Shah is a quality batsman who deserves a chance. Besides, who else would come in for Bell?

In this series no-one. In the slightly longer term you can argue Michael Vaughan, and for me, Ravi Bopara would contest Shah for the position. I think Shah deserves his opportunity for doing pretty much all he can to get in the side. But personally I love the look of Bopara and believe he can be a top 4/5 England batsman for a long time.

Yup, but obv that won't solve our problems in the top 3. Depending how the next few weeks pan out, I think we're looking at something like this at the start of our summer

Would love to see both Key and Bopara in the England side, though Shah deserves his place, don't really like watching him, would much prefer Key, Bopara or even Vaughan. Cook I think could do with some weeks off so he can get his technique down, personally think Key and Shah should be in the team for the third and fourth test in the Windies and Denly should be in OD squad tbh. Key never failed for England and hoping he can play for them before he retires.

Shah is a good player i will admit that, but i'd rather see players like Joe Denly or Rob Key in the national squad... to me shah looks like he's defusing an atomic bomb everytime he bats, he's always so tense every time he bats surely that can't be good for you?
