Good work GB.

I was hoping to see O.Clarke joining my side, but B.Gregson will do. I think he is about the best bowler available on the draft list. Just look at these stats:

4D: 12-28-34-55
1D: 8-8-29-80

Hooray! :) :cool2: :cool2:

The acquisition of Blewett is a major coup for one so low in the draft.

Our bowling speaks for itself, so batting strengthening was the main aim in the first round!

Free State are pleased with the acquisiton of L.Cush, who will play a major role in their one-day campaign in the coming season.

They are slightly disappointed that they missed out on their first pick, O.Snow, by four places...

Western Province were pleased with the news that Ian Nelson will be joining the side in the upcoming season. "He certainly is a very clever young bowler, his economy rate and strike rate are among the very best, and we're hoping he lives up to expectations" He will hopefully bowl in tandem very well with the likes of Roger Telemachus and Brett Lee. "I'm just happy that I got chosen to play somewhere, it's always worrying when you're waiting for a phone call, and to play at WP is like a dream come true, to be partnering Brett Lee and Roger in my rookie year and I am very excited"

Western Province eagerly await the results of next round's dp.

The Argonaut

State Vice-Captain
The Qld side welcomes Horace Fogden into the side. This quality all rounder will fit in well. He was 7th on the list so the manager was happy. It was obvious that no.1 pick Howarth was going to be snapped up early so there was not too much disappointment at missing out on him.

streak is a good get bugs, proves last years draft was stronger than this season as i got streak in the 3rd round with worcs.

Rik

Mashonaland are very pleased to have Michael Burns joining them this season. Michael is a solid batsman in both forms and will compliment an already strong lineup :)

Next on the list...a bowler

Oh there's no question about that, the major make-up of this draft list is rejects from our orginal sqauds that in terms now were very weak, only a few players have had major avgerages increases from the acadmey season.

If you look at the First Round Draft Picks, well over half were rookies, the others were suprise releases by their sides.. the Blewy's, Laxman's, Streak's etc compared to the major make-up of the draft which is left overs from the first draft last season.

Looking at the draft list now after the first round... there is very limited batsman with averages in the 40's, and for anyone to get into my Kent side they need a avg over 40 now.. So to get one of the 10ish remaining is goingto be nearly impossible... Bowling wise I think when myself and Rik were going through, I could only find 5 or so that could get into my side... Working it out where iam in the list if those 15 top players go then Iam only going to get a handy backup player, and this in the just the 2nd round.

So for the rest of the draft all iam going to be doing is picking players that I feel, I could use for trade as and when the next window opens.

Eyes, what was the reasoning behind going for Biggers?? You had a strong pick and there are alot of stronger players in the draft at the time of your pick?

No real reason Rich.....

Thought he may provide a little strength to the team. May possibly used as a back-up player to those already in the team.

Not sure if he'll be in the starting line-up yet....will have to wait and see who else I get in the draft and how they combine with the other members of the team
